even though its depressing i have always liked that quote

The paradox of our time in history is that we have taller buildings, but shorter tempers; wider freeways, but narrower viewpoints; we spend more, but have less; we buy more, but enjoy it less. We have bigger houses and smaller families; more conveniences, but less time; we have more degrees, but less sense; more knowledge, but less judgment; more experts, but more problems; more medicine, but less wellness. We drink too much, smoke too much, spend too recklessly, laugh too little, drive too fast, get angry too quickly, stay up too late, get up too tired, read too seldom, watch TV too much, and pray too seldom. We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values. We talk too much, love too seldom, and hate too often. We've learned how to make a living, but not a life; we've added years to life, not life to years. We've been all the way to the moon and back, but have trouble crossing the street to meet the new neighbor. We've conquered outer space, but not inner space; we've done larger things, but not better things. We've cleaned up the air, but polluted the soul; we've split the atom, but not our prejudice. We write more, but learn less; we plan more, but accomplish less. We've learned to rush, but not to wait; we have higher incomes, but lower morals; we have more food, but less appeasement; we build more computers to hold more information to produce more copies than ever, but have less communication; we've become long on quantity, but short on quality. These are the times of fast foods and slow digestion; tall men, and short character; steep profits, and shallow relationships. These are the times of world peace, but domestic warfare; more leisure, but less fun; more kinds of food, but less nutrition. These are days of two incomes, but more divorce; of fancier houses, but broken homes. These are days of quick trips, disposable diapers, throw away morality, one-night stands, overweight bodies, and pills that do everything from cheer to quiet to kill. It is a time when there is much in the show window and nothing in the stockroom; a time when technology has brought this letter to you, and a time when you can choose either to make a difference, or to just hit "Skip Ahead"...

it really depends mate? you can get loads of package deals, just an example http://www.pcworld.co.uk/martprd/store/ ... oid=-35410 this would probably need another HDD fitting, but with the 19" display and XP its pretty cheap. because building it yourself you have to think about the Operating System (another £100 for windows OEM), yeah you can get copied versions, but the security checks keep changing so updating the OS becomes a pain., this leads to security risks etc.. you could build one slightly cheaper yourself, and the good thing about doing that is you can make it how you want. but if its not being used for any serious gaming or pro applications then off the shelf are normally fine. cheers Brett

i sell computers, and to be honest some of the deals dell have on, you can't really get much cheaper when building yourself. the deals with monitors etc are great

i'll be there in the Silvia i think, get some motivation to work on my MK1 -
i really have no idea how much its worth, hoping someone has bought something similar recently so might have an idea? here is a pic (crap one) of the engine
-
right guys, i have decided to sell my MK1 as i have just lost interest completely i've not touched it for about 4 months and cannot be arsed. i am going travelling for a year or so soon, so want something fun before i go.. , i am going to buy another OSF i have my eye on i have no idea really on value or best way to do it. to be honest the shell isn't that great so am going to break it, as its not finished so will get more money i think in bits. could anyone give me an idea of values? engine 2ltr zetec (33K) , arp rod bolts, ported/polished and skimmed head. kent sportcams, vernier pulleys, all retroford new conversion parts. and full RWD escort exhaust. 2ltr flywheel, with large granada clutch type 9 from 2.8 capri with shortened input shaft and brand new quick shift alloy rs2000 bellhousing new throttle cable, clutch cable dta e48 ecu, all wiring done, engine runs. just needs timing/mapping (i have a base zetec and TB map) (will prob sell the cam cover seperate, also have a spare 33k head and 2ltr cams) st170 inlet manifold, gsxr TB's polo radiator, RST elect fan basically absolutely everything to get a (should be) 200bhp zetec running in a RWD ford. then everything else really is on the car 4.1 diff, capri drums, capri legs with vented disks,m16 calipers and new green stuff pads braided hoses (new) shell is late MK1, had lots of work done on it, will take loads of pics, but i also have a tax exempt mexico log book, tags and new metal plates. any ideas on value of any of this? thanks Brett

i'm going to go have a drive in one at the weekend, don't know how good it will be for an everyday car
-
now i know this isn't OSF but thought i'd ask anyway i've finally got some compensation from a bike crash and i'm now looking for a fun car for summer that i won't loose much money on (as i want to go travelling in aug) I'm looking possibly at a 911 Targa SC (77-83), insurance isn't too bad due to the age of car and limited milage. just wondering if anyone has had one or have any experience with them? Apart from looking cool, wondering if they are actually decent cars, will be looking for a good condition one, they're about £10/11k ish?? thanks Brett

got my zetec engine running for the first time ever 2nite. its on a base map, timing is out (new cams), leaking fuel from pressure reg, belt squealing. but was fooooking loud and i loved it!!!! , first engine i've built and it actually started first time!! (i got my neighbour to pull the throttle incase it caught fire, haha) http://s140.photobucket.com/albums/r30/ ... 8_2058.flv

i only box with bag in my garage, but go to the gym 6 times a week. the biggest tip i can give you is don't over train and eat right. Without these 2 things you will be wasting your time you want to leave at LEAST 48 hours between muscle group workouts. So u can do certain muscles each day on rotation and leave normally 3 days. This is because when you work out, you are purposely damaging your muscles, then when they recover they grow stronger and larger. So if you over train, you do not allow this recover time and will notice very little gains. Also you need to eat a high protein diet if your are going to get results. lots of chicken, tuna, egg white, turkey etc (especially within an hour of working out) also some complex carbs like brown bread, brown rice, oatmeal etc.. example workouts could be Monday - biceps, back Tuesday - chest, triceps Wed - rest Thursday - shoulders, forearms Friday - Legs, abs Weekend rest also dont try and lift to heavy a weight, this is the most common mistake and leads to poor gains and injuries. Make sure you can do controlled movements. If you want any example exercise routines let me know cheers Brett

'a friend' used to run 306 HDI on about 40% veg oil for a year and had no problems. but of course i would not advertise this online as you are ment to delare it and pay tax you can also order bio-diesel (treated veg oil) from online companies and that works fine as a replacement for diesel but normally its about 1000 ltrs min - but only costs about 70p/ltr there arent many bio-diesel stations around here which is a shame as its only about 70-80p litre
