  1. hi, i am building my sons mk1 escort estate but have run into probs with the steering rack / track rod ends. the rack is standard mk1 but the legs are mk2 coilovers with the fixed steering arms, for some reason the TRE's dont do up tight, i have tried to find out what ones i need but to no avail, do i need to change the rack for a mk2 item. if any body can help i would really appreciate it as i would like to have the car finished for when he returns from afghan so he can take it to ford fair.thanks.
  2. hiya son, glad you joined but dont tell mum i will sort yours out first, ok.
  3. i realize that i have to weld the boxes in, i was more concerned as to whether i use the long boxes or the short, i only want to build the car once so i thought i might as well do everything now rather than upgrade over the coming years, cheers for the reply.
  4. hi, i am considering putting a 4 link rear end on my wifes 100e, i was just wondering if anybody has done this before and is there anything i should look out for, i think i will have to use an escort kit as there is not one for the pop, any help or pic's would be very helpful, thanks.
  5. hi, i hope i haven't left it to late but are there any stand passes left as after nearly 2 years i will actually be able to make it to a show, many thanks.
  6. sounds like the centre plate is stuck, we used to put the rear in the air on axle stands, start it up in second gear, keep foot down on the clutch rev it up so the wheels were spinning fairly rapidly then stamp on the brake pedal, this might take a couple of goes but it usually does the trick,
  7. Hi Son, Glad to see u found the site, had loads of fun driving your car back, looking for my own now. Look forward to seeing you in a couple of weeks, Dad.
  8. hi every one, thanks very much for the replys it made me feel very welcome, well i have just got back from collecting the escort ( cheers paul ) and i am more than happy and im pretty sure that my son will be over the moon with it, so as soon as i can i will post some pic's. cheers.
  9. hello to every one, well i thought it was about time i said hello to you all, i do however have a confession, i am writing this for my son who is in the army, at the moment he is not in the country and is therefore unable to either write his welcome post or to ask any questions, but, i do have a long standing love affair with old fords as i remember them the first time round, and as luck would have it my son has been afflicted with the same bug, i have just purchased on his behalf a mk1 escort estate with a 2 litre pinto already fitted, it was on ebay so i told him about it and he agreed with me its a great starter classic, so i am going to collect it at the weekend so it will be ready for him to use when he returns, i am sure that we will be asking loads of questions of you all as he has plans already for what he wants to do with it, thanks very much for taking the time to read this post, i hope to meet some of you in the future as it is nice to meet up with like minded people, cheers, phil.
