Sounds fair enough, not many people can do all aspect to a high standard so somewhere along the line everyone has paid at some point. Willingness to have a go at something and get your hands dirty trying is probably a must tho no matter how small a job but would expect most people to do atleast something, thats presuming there are not people sending a cheque with a shell off and expecting a turn key classic in return!!

I am trying to decide which way to go with my 1300e Mk1 escort. Ive read loads of threads on here and my gut feeling is to make it like an RS2000 with regards to spec and interior, not sure yet on the graphics but would probably go RS2000 style also. My problem is that my first car 18 years ago mas a MK1 with fibreglass bubble arches, rears stuck on and whole replacement wings with bubbles for the front. I know there is no definite right or wrong answer to this but would just like to know peoples thoughts but what is best to do, Fiberglass bubble arches/wings or weld on steel Bubble arches. Obviously the steel is better but would like to know what most others would do weighing up the cost factor and time taken to fit the metal ones and also how much would fiberglass ones de-value the car potentially or would it put some of you off if you were going to buy a car done with fiberglass? Hope that made sense, sorry for the long winded question!!

Hello to all on here. I hope I have found the best place to be for chatting about MK1 escorts and to get as much help as possible with some qusetions that I have as I am a little confused! I hope I dont bore too many people on here with asking loads of questions but looking through the forums it does seem like there is plenty of knowledge around here. Before I go and post some questions I should tell you that my name is Jason, had a 1300 Mk1 Escort 20 years ago, I was 16 and done it up for when I could drive. I bought complete fibreglass wings with the moulded bubble arches, converted the rears to suit and got the bodywork to a faultless condition ready for top coat. Well I passed my test so chucked the car together as I was desperate to get on the road, that lasted for about a month before I then crashed it into 3 shop fronts!! ( shops were closed thank god ) 1 year to build and 1 month to ruin! Now all these years later, I have now got a 1300e Mk1 escort, 2 door. Its not that far off from being a roadworthy car but a long way off for being a nice example so I am at that stage of deciding what to do with it, what look do I go for and to what degree of effort to put into it. Lots of questions, decisions to make and lots of help and advice will be needed in the future. I look forward to learning more on here. Thanks
