Hi should a weber 32 36 go straight on a mk2 cortina ie throttle linkage and manual choke linkage as ive got what supposed to be a 32 36 but nothing lines up? thanks!

I'm hoping for some advice, I've recently purchased a mk2 1600 super Cortina it has a 4 branch manifold fitted and it has a twin choke weber 32 dfm, But I would like to upgrade the carb to achieve a bit more go! Am I best to go for a weber 32 36 (if so a would a 2litre pinto jetted one be ok?) A weber 38 dgas, A pair of twin 40's or some bike carbs? At the moment i'm not looking at having a load of engine/head work done but maybe in the future! Many thanks for any help!
