DUNSFOLD DADS DAD OUT 14TH MAY ( OSF STAND )
Spiritof'76 replied to popeye's topic in SHOWS, EVENTS & MEETS
Christ !! Had a major mission getting back on this Forum..... been trying on and off for about a month Anyway, if a stand is still wanted, no problem but will obviously need a good level of attendance which we don't look to have at the moment sadly Closing date for display tickets will be a week before the event so pitches for stands can be planned If the stand doesn't happen i would still encourage folks to come along as it will really be a great event -
This event runs again on May 14th this year............ if OSF would like a stand and there is someone willing to co-ordinate it then drop me a pm and i'll get you a pitch provisionally booked Ta !

Ah Yeah...... didn't spot that that would explain the lack of interest......... but it's totally cool as i fully approve of a run Have Fun

Hello again my Old Skool Friends Some of you may remember the Charity Ride in a Supercar day back in May at the Top Gear Track.......... well, it's happening again at a different venue. Some Details here.......... http://www.pistonheads.com/news/default ... ryId=22362 It's all a bit short notice this time but there is an opportunity to have display stands.......... unlike last time when we all muddled in together OSF can have their own stand this time if desired. Feel free to start a list and i'll drop in occasionally to see what the numbers are so that space can be allocated. Different charity this time but an equally excellent one......... Little Havens Childrens Hospice Look forward to seeing some of you on the day After all, it's a Ford Venue in Ford's heartland Besides the track stuff there will be the usual family entertainment like a Fun Fair, BBQ, Live Music etc so tell your friends about it Some of the track action from last year...........

As the events thread is now locked i thought i'd just like to let all OSF guys who attended know that £63k was raised for the Charity on the day so thank you very much for your contribution Hopefully OSF can do this again next year......... bigger and better This was posted up by the organisers ............. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Firstly, Thank You to everyone who came down yesterday to show your cars, drive, get flung around by the supercars or Caterhams or just generally to support the event. A very special Thank You also to everyone who volunteered their time to help run the event on the day. It's always tough to be working when there's so much fun to be had and they did an amazing job dealing with the crowds, helping with the queues, selling tickets or marshaling the cars and track. Everyone involved with the event really appreciated all the efforts made. This year, the total number of people who came along was well over 4,500 (i think it may well be closer to 5,000) and although the final figures are yet to be calculated, we appear to have raised in excess of £63,000 Every penny raised goes to the charity Some general info; We did close to 900 rides in an extended period and there was no way we could have done anymore than that. Understandably, The Children's Trust are over the moon and are very grateful to everyone for helping the day such a success. That figure is in no small part due to the efforts of Pistonheaders who leant their support in so many different ways, this includes Paul Garlick and the rest of the PH management who were happy to move a few things around so we could make this event a Sunday Service and help us with advice and ideas as well. It took almost 9 months of planning to make it happen, the bulk of it done by unpaid volunteers in their spare time. We had last year as our benchmark when 3,000+ people turned up and we did over 800 rides. and raised around £30,000. For 2010 We knew that the rest of the event needed to be better, which is why we added 3 more options in terms of having fun in cars. The Caterhams at the other end of the event drifting around (at £10 they were a real bargain and i think they were over subscribed) were a particular success. We also added more marquees and more entertainment in the shape of live bands, a motorbike and mountian bike display teams as well as more stuff for kids to do. The food was much better this year although we're aware the queues were longer than we would have liked so it may simply be a case of adding extra vans. We're aware that not everything was perfect, some of the volunteers didnt arrive til after people were arriving so the early part was rather fraught and the queues for the supercars were also longer than we would have liked (but the volunteers manning the queues were immense imho) some of it due to sheer volume some of it due to cars not always functioning as well as they could. We had plenty of cars on the day....there were 5 F40's and 2 Spykers which is rare enough! There were over 100 on the list, all supercars in one form or another and appealling to most if not all tastes. All the drivers gave up their time (and fuel/tyre costs...mentioning no names! ) to take people out for the ride of their lives, and i dont think anyone held back which is a testament to them. They deserve all the credit they received We'll learn the lessons from this year and make sure 2011 is better still. Thank you again from everyone on the Dads Day Out organising team

Brilliant turnout from this site i'm well impressed compared to other Forums i posted on. Glad to see Marky4's car on the list as this car is responsible for me being here........ i saw it at Goodwood Breakfast Club back in April with it's OSF windscreen sticker and thought to myself that would be a great site to visit about this event If anyone wants to join me for the final leg to the venue i'll be at Guildford Cathedral about 7:40 ish to set off about 8:00/8:15......... should be quite a few of us there and i'll be in a red Escort Cosworth reg L39 CPE. If not i'll see you in the queue outside or on the stand........ try not to arrive too much past 9am as we need to be out of the way and sorted before the public arrive -

They have added a few extra attractions..... so thought i would cut & paste for ya -------------------------------------------------------------------- 3 driver training areas 1. the Caterham drift experience, you can be a passenger in a Caterham as they drift and donut around a specially designated circuit 2. The Performance driver training area, take the wheel of your own car with a Roadcraft instructor next to you to hone and enhance your skills, a must for anyone with a performance car, it’s the only performance enhancement you take with you whatever car you drive! 3. The new drivers training area. Anyone from the age of 14 upwards can take the wheel of specially modified cars to have their first experience of driving on a private road within the Dunsfold complex. Highly trained instructors will ensure the first experience of driving is a positive one. This is also open to those who simply want to brush up their skills All the above events are available to book online here http://www.thechildrenstrust.org.uk/...&month=&page=3 Within the event arena we will have spectacular stunts from: East Coast FMX display team at 12.00-12.30pm and 2.00-2.30pm M.A.D. -the UK's number 1 mountainbike stunt & display team at 11.00am, 1.30pm and 4.00pm Plus Dunsfold Fire Brigade will demonstrate their life-saving techniques and equipment by responding to a staged Road Traffic Collision at approx 11.30am and 1.45pm Other attractions include: Kids Zone with Roary the Racing Car & Big Chris plus a craft table where children can decorate their own race car to take home, face painting, balloon modeling and Cub Carts for 3-9 year olds Helicopter rides from Elite Helicopters- £35 per adult & £30 per child- these can be booked at the event Live music from The Lettuceheads, The Deccas & Sarah Blackwood throughout the day Routemaster bus rides to transport you in style from the carpark to the event arena Fire Engine rides for children, these can be booked at the event Land Train and Fairground rides Simulator with following experiences: Red Arrows, Ski, Car Rally, Astro Canyon, Glacier Run, Pepsi Max Roller coaster & many more Models Zone with Slot car competiton provided by Slot 32, model aeroplanes and helicopters from Addlestone Models, model boats from Springbok Mariners Model Boat Club and model car stalls Automobile-themed catering bars from DW Mobile Catering Bars Static display of over 500 classic & sports cars including a Jordan F1 Racing Car plus a number of aircraft including Sea Harrier, Sea Hawk & Air Support Unit -

Sorry to hear you are struggling Hope you'll have another go....... should be worth it -
Just the Ford Stand then What's in a name
-
Forgot to add......... if anyone is going to skip the convoys and go straight to Dunsfold Aerodrome then i've been advised that the postcode GU6 8TB isn't the best thing to use in a Nav as it will just dump you in a field down the road. Put into your Nav....... 'Stovolds Hill, Cranleigh' as this will get you pretty close to the entrance And then.... tell the Marshalls you are on the Ford RS stand....... for simplicity's sake that's what we are calling the overall stand, though obviously once inside you'll be setting up your own OSF stand
-
Meet up's we have so far........ The show opens to the public at 10am so we are required to get display cars to the venue at 9am. The plan i have so far for this is......... M11 Jct 8 Birchanger Services (CM23 5QZ) Shell fuel station - 6am approx depart. M25 South Mimms Services (EN6 3QQ) BP Fuel Station - 6:40am Guildford Cathedral (GU2 7UP) 7:40 to depart about 08:15. The Cathedral will be the final meet before running down to the Airfield......... It may be busy at the Cathedral as other car clubs for the static display may well be meeting there........ I've heard CSL Register will be there and possibly Honda S2K aswell and maybe others but there should be enough room If not, a little chaos adds to the fun I don't know where everyone is coming from so feel free to add your own meet ups but i figured South Mimms would be ideal to meet anyone coming down the M1/A1 There was talk of Clacket Lane Services at the bottom of the M25 (TN16 2ER) So if that suits anyone use that
