  1. where is the car located for viewing ?
  2. thanks fella, if i do 2 degress should i keep gearbox the same at 2 degrees down ?
  3. i have just read this article. i am in the process of building a v8 powered rwd on leaf springs. the engine has about 360 lbft of torque so i was gonna try what this article suggests of 3d down angle on both the gearbox and diff so it allows for axle wrap on launch. http://www.fordification.com/bumpwiki/i ... ion_Angles does that seem about right for a big torque leaf sprung solid rear axle ?
  4. there the wrong springs fella there from a mk2 escort 60mm wide, mk2 tinas are 50mm 2" wide, i would have to grind the spring down to get the front end in as its not actually on a tina anymore.
  5. i thought capri leaf springs were 50mm wide like the cortina ? my axle top plate mount that the u bolts go in will not accept a 60mm spring ?
  6. what bushes did you use ? and were they 2.8 and 3.0 ones ? suspension stiffening and raising is what im looking for with my custom car sat at a stand still with nobody in it my leaf springs are almost level there pretty knackered, now has sbc power and slung back abit so want something abit taller and stiffer.
  7. looking at some leaf springs on ebay there listed as 1974 - 1988 2.8i or 3.0 leaf springs, will they fit, stiffen up and lift the rear end on a mk2 cortina ?
  8. ive got the crossflow running, ive dropped the oil to change it but the dipstick doesnt have any level marks on it ? it has the sump pan at the front of the engine and the dipstick is in the timing cover. does anyone know how much oil i need to put in including empty filter ? i want to get it right as im gonna mark the dipstick with a full mark once i know how much to put in. thanks
  9. cool thanks il just run a cable from the alt main cable to the terminal then this is what the car actually is its a dutton phaeton built from a 1969 1600 cortina and its 1969 on the reg so tax exempt only had it 4 days got spark today so hopefully i can get her fired up tmrw with a bit of luck.
  10. im just curious what 4 cylinder cars this was fitted to ? i have just removed a faulty one from the crossflow wondered its origins ? its has a module box with it with about 10 wires in it and still on vac adv on the dizzy ? also there was a wire on the carb than ran from the coil + but it gets hot so ive unplugged it. i dont know what it is, in the pic its the threaded bolt sticking out of the carb on the black cylinder facing towards the rad ?
  11. Only 600.... Another one of them engines where power is just down the size of your wallet... but from what im told 5-550BHP isnt that hard. 600 is what i have in mine and its enough for 0 - 100 mph in 7.9 seconds in 1650kgs. couple of pics of car and a dyno run i got pic of at only 1 bar boost at wastegate pressure, runs 1.5 bar high boost held at about 590 bhp
  12. well ive fitted it and wired it up and now have spark
  13. i dont know if anybody can help me please, i have a 1600 crossflow cortina engine but it has distributor issues so ive fitted the distributor of my mk2 1100 fiesta on it, it fits perfect has identical shaft and drive gear and has vacuum advance, i need to rewire it as the wiring is what has destroyed the original dizzy. am i right in thinking the only components are distributor with ignition module on the side and a coil ? or does a fiesta have a box somewhere for spark control ? so far im at ignition + to + coil post, coil - to module wire 1 or 3, earth to module wire 2 and ignition + to remaining module wire 1 or 3. can anyone tell me if i have got this right and if there is any component ive missed ? thanks
  14. its abit of a tall order wanting 100 bhp per litre of capacity cheaply. the only way cheaply is a big engine from an old jag or bmw something along those lines. put a 600 hp rb26dett in it i gaurantee you wouldnt be dissapointed
