  1. Hey All, I’m heading up too (if I can get the car started and it doesn’t pack up on me ). I’m up for meeting somewhere. If anyone is coming up the M3 let me know as I will be getting on at J13. Can meet at Tesco as haven’t been there before and heard that its a bit of a nightmare to find. Let me know. Will be coming in white MK4 Cortina. Let me know the postcode! P.S my weather man says sun all day too so I’m sticking with that!!
  2. Hi All, I cant find an appropriate place to post this so i've put it here; My mate has some space in a large barn/garage in Chandlers Ford/Eastleigh area (near Southampton). He has three 20ft x 10ft spaces to rent for £80 a month for each space. I’ll be working on my MK4 Cortina there too. If you’re interested just PM me your phone number and I shall pass it to Malcolm (it’s his yard). If your local I’m sure he wouldn’t mind you popping along to have a look as well.
  3. Would love to come but don’t know if I’m going to get the Cosworth engine in the Cortina in time. Don’t want to rush the job but would love to show her off. She’s in retro ford this month, rather proud of her.
  4. Hi All, Just thought I’d give you an update. Sadly the 2.8 packed up the other day, booooooooooo . Well I say packed up, something is wrong with it on a serious side. Leaking oil from the crank (even though the bearing has been replaced twice!) and she’ll cut out when it gets too hot. Not a major blow though as I’ve just got myself a 24V Cossy engine! Picking it up on Saturday and hope to get it all in by the end of April for the summer! Will pop a build post on here when the work gets under way!
  5. Hi, Im up for it too. roll on the 5th of June.
  6. Hi All, Here's some updated pics of my Cortina. Posted some a while a go but she was looking a bit tatty. She's a happy motor now. what do you think?
  7. The clocks in the dash are the original dials, it was a 2.3GL. I dont think the dials have ever been changed from the original. The sender thats currently in the engine and/or dial is reading very hot indeed, just below the red. however i have installed an aftermarket water temp guage and thats reading at 90 so the engine is not actually running that hot. I believe either the sender unit to be incorrect or as you suspect the dial is set up for the 2.3GL so would struggle to read the temp from the V6 correctly. Do you think i should try to get hold of a 2.8 capri temp guage? Kind Regards, George.
  8. Hi all, Not too sure if I’ve posted in the right area but can anyone help. I'm trying to get a new engine temp sender unit for a 2.8 V6 cologne in my MK4 Cortina. The only thing is apparently the resistance for these units changed depending on the model year. I have no idea when my engine was produced. I think it came from a MK3 Capri. Its running on twin carbs. Stamped on the engine is 2.8 and below that the first two digits are FO. Can’t remember the rest as the cars at home. Does anyone know what year it might have been manufactured? Your help on this matter will be most appreciated. Can’t wait for the shows next summer so i can bring my pride and joy. Cheers, George.
  9. Just said i needed to post 2 posts and wait one day before I could post. Had to ask about wheel arches for it. Speaking of which, i still cant find anything to ectend the wheel arches about 6cm so that their flush with the tyre. any ideas more than welcome. cheers for the car comments though!
  10. Cheers chaps. Golf was sold today so im going for a drive in the cortina. What lovely weather for a drive. Hopefully you'll see me at some shows next summer!
  11. Hi All, New to the site so thought i'd show me motor. Used to have a couple of crapris but then had to get a newish car. rubbish. no fun at all. Now gone back to the classic. Just had it re-sprayed but need to find some wheel arch extensions as you can see the rear tyres are rather large! She's had a 2.8 V6 put in (injectors off, twin 40's put in) with a 5 speed. upgraded front and rear suspension/brakes. have a look and if anyone can help with the wheel issue please let me know.
  12. lovely motor. got a MK4 myslef but would have one of those too if finaces alowed!
