  1. Hi David, I have PM'd re the rubbers. And did the wiper arm leak you had cause a lot of water to come in? With mine the water really is coming in a lot, after a few hours of rain there are pools of water on the floor pan.
  2. Hi Found this photo that I took at the IoW Bus Museum open day in 2009. A really beautiful Cortina on the Isle of Wight Classic Ford Owners Club stand.
  3. Hi Steve, Ok thanks for this, I had assumed windscreen seal as the rubber looks pretty knackered, but what you have suggested makes sense as I could not see water around the inside of the screen rubber. Will check it out later today as you have suggested.
  4. Hi I have got the Sparco seats out and got the original drivers seat in, apart from the seat all carpet etc is stripped out back to painted shell. As soon as I can find out where the water is leaking in I will anti rust the floor pan and boot, then paint it. Once the carpet etc is done I will have to decide about getting shot of the lowering and if i go back to original wheels. Until I can afford a respray I may get the inside standard and leave the outside until I have some money. At the moment water is pooling on the floor pan after an hour or two of rain (when stationary) and I cannot see any sign of it coming in, unless it is around the screen and coming in that way and around the tunnel. Will give it a go tomorrow with the hose on one part of the car at a time to try to find it as there is too much coming in to do anything to it until leak is cured. If I had not got the Escort I would be wasting my time sitting around with my feet up watching football or on the computer browsing adult sites so i should count myself lucky!
  5. She is still costing me money now (bought her a bag on ebay) and she is 26 and married for 6 years! If I had asked for storage money she would have turned it around to me paying her for it making the front of the house look nice or something similar. It is easier not going through the embarrassment of losing arguments to a 'child' (well, she is to me!).
  6. Everything is about cost, more cars from one supplier, bigger discount. Nowadays everything is about doing things as cheaply as possible, not necessarily as well as possible.
  7. Thanks, I think it is mainly superficial stuff. Although there are some small rust bubbles in a couple of places and I am not sure if they are better left or rubbed down now and treated?
  8. My new 'toy'. I know they stopped in 80, but this was registered Feb 81. It is running and MOT'd but after being left unused on my drive for 2 years by my daughter it needs lots of tidying up (so it is now mine!), that should keep me out of mischief! Clicking on a pic will take you to some other photos in my Flickr set. It actually looks a lot better in the photos than in the flesh.
  9. Ford Escort - 'Your Operating Guide' from my 1981 MK2 Escort. If you click on the photo it should take you to the Flickr photo which can be viewed at a larger size.
  10. That is really funny, but then I own an Escort! At least you made the effort to find a photo of the best looking Capri owner, are the other photos to scarey to post? Looking like the bastard child of the elephant man and Jordan with no make up?
  11. I do not remeber seeing Ford on them so they must be pattern. I will do a £195 start and see how it goes. Thanks
  12. Hi I am putting the X-Pack that my daughter bought for her MK2 a few years ago on ebay Thursday, it is the 5 piece kit (photo is in my 'garage'). What sort of price should I be looking at starting it off? I do not want it to go too cheaply, but do not want it sitting there with no bids either. It is collection only so that might impact on the bids. Thanks
  13. I have the original steering wheel in the shed somewhere and will be replacing the one in it at the moment. It will look completely different when all the original seats are in and I get it carpeted (after the floor pan and boot area are done with rust inhibitor and smooth hammerite).
  14. Hi I have replaced one bucket with the standard seat so you can compare side by side. I must admit I am not sure which I prefer. Photos are in my 'MK2 Escort etc' set on Flickr, I cannot add a web address so you will have to get my Flickr group address from my profile.
  15. My car (MK2, 4 door) still has the buckets and harnesses in from when my daughter owned it, I am probably going to put it back to original but a photo of the interior is in my 'Garage' entry and some more on Flickr (site address is in my profile). If you want some other interior pics from different angles just say. It should not be about what other people think of it, but what you like.
  16. Lovely MK2, and it is nice to see them when pretty much standard, I like the colour as well.
  17. Hi I have added photos to the 'garage', was that what you meant?
  18. Hi Just 'inherited' my daughters 1981 Escort, she bought it 6 odd years ago and started to make it RS like, it has sat on my drive for a couple of years and not started for the last 12 months. It seemed a shame to let it rust so I got it MOT'd, and next month will do the insurance and tax. I have the original seats but cannot decide whether to put it back to original look, or leave it roughly as is but with carpet etc. What I do to to it is limited by my bad back so will have to see which seats are most comfortable, you can tell you are old when comfort is a higher priority than speed! I have some photos but I could not put in a URL link, you can find them by using the Flickr link shown in my profile details.
