  1. not sure but i like the way it looks when it's all nailed together!
  2. i've done a bit of research and apparently it's a modified capri shaft. luckily a motor factors in sunderland had a bearing on the shelf so that is sorted. i just have to find out why the diff oil escaped before i put it all back together. see the washers in this picture just above the drip? apparently they're not meant to be there. am i right in thinking they could allow enough play for the oil to escape? if that's the case the original bearing might be alright as according to the bloke i bought the car from he'd done both rear bearings a few weeks ago. or would a diff oil bath ruin the bearing? it was covered in grease when i took it out and i got the impression that the grease was meant to be on the inside. sorry for all the daft questions i've never had a car in bits before!
  3. right i just pulled the halfshafts on my capri because the bearing dropped it's grease all over the place. so i stuck the shaft in a big bag and went for a long walk around all the local parts suppliers and none of them knew what bearing i need. what doesn't help is that i'm not entirely sure what car the shaft is from! here's the pic anyway; any ideas? i'd like to know what car the shaft is from so it's easier for the local suppliers to look it up but if not can anyone point me in the right direction of a mail order supplier? you can follow the whole saga here if you're interested; http://retrorides.proboards.com/index.c ... ead=105814 i just thought i might be better off with some specific ford knowledge courtesy of OSF thanks
  4. i've been lurking around looking for some northeast meets and i found this. i just got a capri and i'm looking forward to showing it off a bit and meeting some local ford fans. i'm up for a run out and seaburn/south shields anywhere like that is perfect for me. i'd be happy to tag along!
  5. let's have another shot with a wheel in then. they're proving surprisingly popular. apparently they were bought brand new and not been refurbed. no idea where he got them from but they've got a nice satin centre with a super shiny lip. maybe the reason they've never caught my eye is that the ones on granadas always look totally shagged and these ones are mint.
  6. just a few snap shots so far but i have worked as a car photographer in the past so when they come they'll be good ones! how are you finding your capri? i've just bought someones finished project and i'm loving it. kind of weird not having a big list of jobs to do but amazing to just enjoy the driving for once.
  7. ha ha that's funny you have no idea how many people have already said that! i agree, i'd never consider the granada wheels but as soon as i clapped eyes on the car i knew they'd be staying. they fit perfect and they give a hint to what's under the bonnet for those in the know!
  8. hello there. just like it says, i'm from sunderland and i just bought a capri. my first car was a 1.6 laser rotbox and i took the rough with the smooth and enjoyed it enough to get another one 6 years later. this one is an entirely different beast though. i love cars but i'm jealous of some peoples massive knowledge as i'm a total noob when it comes to mechanics so i'll mostly be hanging around asking daft questions! also want to find out about any local meets and show the car off. this is the car in question anyway; if you see me driving around the northeast give me a honk! Tom
