Hi everyone, Just thought it was about time I joined what people tell me is the best Old School Ford forum, so from an Old School Trev a very big hello. I'm a serial restorer and kit-car builder starting with a V6 engined Dutton Malaga when I was 20 in 1977, yes I'm THAT old, and since then I've restored 8 cars and built 7 kit-cars, 3 won National concours awards. I have the disease really bad. Joined the forum because I realised in 2014 that having had lots of things since, my heart really lies reliving the 1968 Twincam experience I had when they were just cheap old unreliable cars. 'Why did you buy that Trev?' mates asked, but unlike todays digital safety net boringness they were, and are, very analogue and full of feedback and smiles. Oh, then there's the noise of twin 40s at 7,000 rpm as well. I've got 2 things right now that will split opinions. I have a March 1974 AVO RS2000Mk1 that I'm going to restore in 2018 to be a "really good un". It's a nice place to start, it has World Cup suspension and a factory LSD that still works, and I'll be asking you lot who the right person is to restore the shell. It's been a rally car before so it has sills with skids and lots of reinforcement that shouldn't be there. I'll start a topic to get your views on who's best, so one for the purists. And just to divide opinion I've got one that the purists will hate. I have a South African CS VIN plate December 1967 V6 Superspeed replica. I love it because it'll never be anything except what I would have done by reading Hot Car and Custom Car articles in the 1970s. It'll never be concours, it's just a "loud in every way" hotrod, bloody wonderful. No pussy footing around in this one, just use the 160bhp and huge torque, and the LSD, to go sideways everywhere, and wake the neighbours. Pleased to be here, I have a couple of other things 'on the go' but they are not Fords so aren't for here, but that's why I can't start the RS resto until 2018. If you're ever in Leicester let me know, trevor.Chesterton@gmail.com. I make great tea, terminally bad coffee, tell awful jokes and I have a habit of handing spanners out to visitors. All the best Trev
