Bit bored here and was wondering how difficult would it be to put an L4 (MK5/MK6) Escort RS2000 engine in a Angila?

You can pick them up cheap enough and they've got 150bhp standard and sound sound rather horny when being pushed?

Due to the Ford bellhousing alingement being the same over the years,I reckon an L4 and a rocket box in an Anglia would be awesome cheap fun.

I remember there was someone on here who was buliding a Sierra DOHC powered Angila which the L4 engine is based around.

Btw,what does YKT mean?

marty anglia used the 8v engine with stunning results, there is a mk2 with an I4 engine fitted on here,i was warned off this engine as there isnt much about for it tuning wise, better off with a zetec

marty's put that engine in his , im doing it (same engine just with a different head (8v)) and theres another member who's done it with the engine your looking at (16v) into a mk2 escort

you can run a type 9 on it, MT75 or the FWD box :wink:

oh and its lighter then a pinto  as its an ally head its easy to tune(port etc), you can get it chipped, run it on TB's, turbo it, supercharge it, uprate the injectors, get performance manifolds etc

Tuning bits are everywhere m8!

Even do manifolds for 45's now so no worries of EFI!

Fit a mega jolt system and Bob's your mothers brother!

I've heard about the lack of tuning alot when this engine is mentioned.

I was merely think of it as a fun, cheap project and if the engine breaks just chuck a Zetec or something in.Besides,150ish bhp is about enough in an Angila.

Sounds like a good idea

As long as the mounts and water pump pose no problem

I cant see why not.......

Be that extra bit different 8)

Cheers. As above my whole reasoning was it to be cheap, fun and different.

You two were the people I was trying to think of and couldn't remember.

I reckon keep it standard and if to mod it;Cams and bodies.
