What Colour Should My Petrol Tank Be?

Could anyone tell me what colour my petrol tank would have originally been when it left the factory?Its a 1100L Escort and its an L-Reg (1972).

 

Any information would be greatly appreciated

i would say either black or silver

All the mk1s I have had the tank has been grey and looks like just primer - not certain thats original but lots seem to look like that so my guess would be thats how they were out the factory
