Yea its the same everywhere now days I think, tbh most people just want some 'tyres' and arnt bothered too much about them so I guess the approach works in 99% on 'normal' sales.
-
they look good but cant seem to find 205 60/13s
-
Cheers all, in reality I'm not going to wear them out before they start to go hard/crack so long life isnt high on my agenda. Have seen the Nankangs ecos and can get them locally so think these are a good fallback option (and cheapest!) DTs have 4 options (for 205 60 13) Nankang AR-1s (semi slicks) £98ea Toyo 888s (semi slicks) £115.79 ea Yoko A052 (half way between a semi and road pattern) £172ea Avon CR28 (classic pattern) £214 ea! (ffs) Vintage tyres have got a few options but are proper silly prices - the nankang ecos are 106 ea (about £65 everywhere else) I like the look semi slicks but not sure what they will be like in reality given the roads are rougher than the surface of the moon around here now days - has anyone got much experience? BTW stumbled across this site in case anyone is after some part worn track tyres - reckon there would be some bargains to be had https://www.tyretek.co.uk/collections/13-inch. looks like i missed a set of part worn 888s @ 38 quid each aghhhhhh!!!!!!

Cheers Bailey, have just had a look but they don't look to be available in the sizes I need. Its been years since I have bought any 13s - options are quite limited these days from the looks of it

Need a new set of boots for the capri running 7" fronts and 8" rear 13" compomotives - generally fit 205 60 13s all round but could go 215s on the rear or down to a 55 side wall all round. What are people using now days for road use, mainly dry with the odd occasion of getting caught out in a shower of course? Quite enjoy some sideways action but given it doesnt get more than a couple of 100 miles a year im really not bothered about tyre wear. Nankang AR1s look half decent and a bit cheaper than 888s - any recommendations gratefully received!

I'm after a complete system for a 3.0s, ideally looking for a 3" sportex or capri club one with manifolds - pref second hand as im too mean to buy a new one
-
hey well done buying that, looks like someone has done a nice job restoring it. As I recall it was pretty solid and very original, I got it from twigworth breakers, someone had weighed it in but thankfully they were canny enough to put it aside for sale.

That's a lovely looking mk1 there, everything about that is spot on -
Brilliant, thanks guys those threads take me right back. Fair play I used to crack on with my projects back then!

Hey al, well its almost 15 years since I first joined the forum - yikes. Not done much on the cars for a few years but the capri will back on the rd this year. I was just curious to search for my old resto threads but I don't seem to be able to find them, is there a way to search through all my old posts at al? Good to see the forum is still up and running hats off to those that run it 👌

Just PM'd you -
Having a bit of a clear out and there will be more to come…..can all be collected from either Bexhill on Sea TN39, Cheltenham GL53 or NP12 area south Wales. I'll try and get some pictures up in the next day or so. I don't get on here much these days so prefer a PM but ill check this thread as often as I can. Mk4 1300 popular shell in white, stripped but rolling with dash and some wiring. Need inner sills and a few little bits but is very straight and solid. I cant see anywhere where it has been welded repaired in the past. Doors and boot included but no bonnet or front screen, would make an ideal gartrac conversion etc. £350 Mk4 escort roof (sunroof model) nice and straight with lots of the posts left to refit £50 Mk4 RS turbo bonnet vents, pair in white, genuine ford parts with no broken lugs etc £50 Spit with Mk4 escort adapter but this can easily be modified for anything else, this one has the advantage of the screw lift to pick the car up off the ground. £75 Pair of Mk1 escort doors (2 door) with glass, window regulators and handles. These came off a BT van years ago and are really straight and still in BT yellow after being in storage for 30 odd years. One door has a small hole in the underside along the seam but is easily repairable and to be honest you wouldn’t ever see it. Doors have the locks fitted still but I’m sorry I don’t have the keys. £250 the pair Mk1/2 escort van rear door, right hand side with glass and hinges, nice and straight not seen one like this in years. Only damage I can see is on the inside part of the frame that has been a bit dented but could be sorted easily enough. £100 Mk1 escort bonnet, surface rust on the underside from storage but is really straight, only downside is that is has been drilled for bonnet pins. Ideally needs a sand blasting before paint. £75 3x 1300 crossflow engines, two of them with gearboxes. I’ll get the engine numbers on these to try and identify them. I’m pretty sure one is a very early Mk1 escort 1300 sport engine as it’s got a hydraulic clutch, dynamo and glass fuel pump bowl. Let me know if your interested and I’ll look closer, check them over and we can agree a price. These were all off running cars but have been in dry storage for years so will really benefit from a strip down before they are used. 1x Mk1 capri boot lid with duck tail fitted, solid enough panel but needs tidying £75 4x Mk1 escort grills, one is the plain silver early type, 2 are silver/black (factory) and one has been painted all black. All need a good clean up but are very straight. £50 for the black/silver ones, £75 for the all silver one. offers for the black one... Other bits Ill sort out for sale soon…. Loads of 100E pop bits including a complete car Pair of 13” banded steels (10” from memory) with avon intermediate tyres DGAS carbs Xflow manifolds Roll cage (bolt in old skool type no good for racing now days) Princess 4 pot calipers Rear drums and back plates 3.0s capri rear axle (teeth broken on crown wheel) Mk1 granada NOS rear bumper Mk1 granada white hub caps (set of 4) Loads of other bits and pieces ill list when I get to them
