Good stuff , interested to see what they are like and how much they are. Hope they are sensible money, I wonder what they will do to prices if a load of 'new' she'll suddenly appear on the market?! I'd heard something about this too, more needless legislation no doubt to crack down on a problem that doesn't really exist!

There was talk a few years back of complete re manufactured shells being made available soon, anyone know if this is still a possibility? So many of the panels are now available again for escorts surely it's on the horizon ?

What ever you do don't let it out of your sight, make sure it's on your property not in a yard else you wiill find half of it will go missing, trust me I've made that mistake myself -
like all these things im sure there is technique and skill involved as well as the attention to detail in getting the surfaces perfectly clean and free from grease etc still think i might have ago and this just out of curiosity as much as anything else. wont buy a kit tho will see what i can knock up at home and get the chemicals in
-
I reckon good on the lad, it wasn't that long ago that 15 yr olds went to war. It's only driving a car round in circles.
-
I'll take your word for that but then it begs the question what is different about a commercial plating outfit than the DIY kits other than the size obviously! Different chemicals? More power?
-
thanks guys had a read up and see its the passivation that gives it the colour. has anyone tried a DIY kit? im quite tempted to splash out for a few projects ive got on the go, jhas some bad experiences with platers loosing / damaging stuff in the past but interested to know whatt the finish is like on a DIY kit and how much hard work it is (im a lazy bugger)
-
has anyone tried one of these kits for plating small parts like washers bolts etc? anyone know if you can get the kits to do the more authentic gold zinc like ford used to use? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Zinc-Electroplating-Plating-Kit-for-Car-and-Bike-restoration-FREE-multimeter-/251486342155?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item3a8dc10c0b#ht_3322wt_1399

Looks great, any idea what spurs did with it! Bound to be a few pics of it kicking about from back then -
We had the Battle of Britain flight over the house today two lancs and two spitfires, bloody awesome. Got the camera out for their return journey from the air show at eastbourne but they took a root about a mile further east so wasn't worth the pic, will try and geth them tomorrow when they come over

something weird there as I had the log book in my name for sure way after 1995 and ive never been exported! Ive been trying to track down a few of my other cars recently, found that my mk1 rs2000 that had a bit of front end damage was stripped and cut up for parts 2002 ish I know the riveria blue mk2 in the pic went for scrap as i took it myself but i stripped most of it which went to live on in other projetcs / got sold

To correct my previous post ifs isn't 'free' there is a lot of cost associated with running the forum etc paid for by sponsorship and vol donations etc but totally agree with the point the membership enthusiasm is key too.

Ah thanks for that maybe I never taxed it then! Was Defo motd as I remember getting it done then using it for a year or so. Those were the days before anpr.....

Anyone ever seen this in the last 10 yrs or so? I owned it for 6 months or so in the cheltenham area about 2001/2002. It was sierra beige with a chocolate vinyl roof with a webasto. totally original other than for the rear arches even down to the deck chair seats, bronze glass and steels. sold it for about £350 with t&t

To be honest, and I hate to say it, I think the days of paid members clubs like these are nearing the end now. I see exactly the same thing in the motorcycle world too as well as other vintage car clubs (the morris register for example) which is a shame as there is a massive wealth of knowledge available but as the internet generation grows older more and more of this advice and access to parts is freely available on the web. I certainly dont mean to knock the AVO club or any other of the well established similar clubs which rely (as does OSF) on 1000s of hours work by a few volunteers - its just my opinion
-
is it me or have the OSF prices gone too silly now

defo worth holding on to stuff now days. Im on the look out for an early impreza as they are shooting up in price now they are getting thinner on the ground, just gonna lock it away for a rainy day fund - its a shame really and it doesnt sit very well with me as I always think cars are there to be driven but money in the bank isnt exactly doing much at the moment - maybe thats some of the problem with interest rates so low...?
