HELP! Mk1 Cortina owners

My mates stripped his front struts down and is gonna refit them tomorrow but can't remember which way round they were.

 

Do the calipers face forward or backwards? (still on steering box)

just checked my car !!! the calipers on my de luxe (ha ha ) are to the rear end (nearest to the doors) . hope this helps you. ps they are 1500 super legs and brakes.

It a simple mistake as they go both ways !!

 

But genaraly the calipers go to the back of the car and not to the front as on some lotus'.
