MK II Mark Posted July 22, 2007 Report Posted July 22, 2007 Its been a long time coming (3 months), but I got the old girl fired up today and took her for a run. She sounded good with the bike carbs but the only thing thats causing me a headache is the fact that it revs it's nuts off on idle when it gets hot I got the idle screw at the minimum, could it be overfueling thats causing the problem as I here that fuel regulators are often required. Any hints tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated
tonymk2wagon Posted July 22, 2007 Report Posted July 22, 2007 glad its running mark. ive had problems with over fueling lately. did cause increased idle and black smoke (to rich) . also missed for a min too but would clear once i booted it. mine was just needing a set up but to start with we put it down to fuel preasure. not really shaw this helps as i'm not on bike carbs but general fueling problems will be the same no mater what set up ya running. gas analizer or old skool colour tune might help.

I'm running ZZR 1100 carbs which have beel cleaned and re-jetted by Bogg Bros, its also got a fast road cam and a ported head other than that its standard. It's really p****ing me off cos this engine conversion has taken ages and everything has been a swine to fit or work, Im so close yet so far
tonymk2wagon Posted July 22, 2007 Report Posted July 22, 2007 your sort it bud, this is just those final tweek bits that are always needed on a new engine. i'd try and get it on a rolling road mate just to get it set up incase its under or over fueling a large amount. ive known people seize engines solid after them over fueling and running the bores dry. the high idel could be down to preasure, you tryed pinching the pipe a touch once its idleing high, bit bodge but hey it could work to test the theory .
