Daveyboy20 Posted September 6, 2007 Report Posted September 6, 2007 A good friend of mine put one in his Capri a couple of years ago and its not finished as he is frequently unwell and has an extremely demanding job. His enthusiasm has waned but i know he absolutely loves it like - i was wondering if anyone can point me in the direction of a few parts for him - one thing - they MUST be cheap!! He needs a waterpump as the bearings are gone its a 1980 ish engine and the pump has two small pipes coming off at about 10 oclock (if you know what i mean!) and a pulley on the front (aparently they changed this about a bit) Its out of a thunderbird. also needs a starter solanoid its one of the ones that is separate from the starter as it keeps sticking on Also some advise - how strong is the standard 2.0s capri axel and diff? IE will it take the v8 or will he have to get a 3.0 or 2.8 one? Its all hooked up now but he just thinks itll probably blow up. Thats it for now i think. Need to get him perked up and enthusiastic again! Cheers people, any advise will suffice!
V8ian Posted September 6, 2007 Report Posted September 6, 2007 First place to put up an ad would be here, http://www.nsra.org.uk/ sounds like you need a non serp pump, and is the standard axle up to the Job, Not really, and a 2.8i axle would be marginal as well, an LSD would help with the 2.8 axle big time, he may get away with it if the car is auto, and when it breaks, upgrade to a narrowed 9" axle. But, by the time you have found a decent injection axle, It may be cheaper and quicker to look at the 9" first.
Daveyboy20 Posted September 6, 2007 Author Report Posted September 6, 2007 Cheers bud ill have a gander at that website. Will a 9" axel go on with ease? What mod would be needed? Cheers Ian
V8ian Posted September 6, 2007 Report Posted September 6, 2007 An axle is an axle, all solid back axles have the same format, they can be made to fit by fitting the right brackets, TBH an 8" off a Fox bodied Mustang may be near the right size, and probably be cheaper to purchace, but LSDs are harder to come accross, The Jag Mk2 axle is another alternative, strong as fook, and you can easily get a range of ratios and LSDs from XJ6s and the like, another place to try would be here. http://www.eurodragster.com/classifieds ... category=9 and http://www.eurodragster.com/classifieds ... category=9 Ian
petrolhead Posted September 6, 2007 Report Posted September 6, 2007 Try Real Steel in Uxbridge, nr speed shack. My bro get parts for his v8 Capri from there.
