deluxemk1 Posted October 27, 2007 Report Posted October 27, 2007 nice one thats best ive seen for long time its gonna be nice bet you got fed up cleaning the underside mate its very clean .the front valances can be a pig as well i remember when i did mine the curve that should be round the sidelight panels was pressed to flat had to heat and reshape mine but that was years ago dont know what the club ones are like.I know the doorskins I bought for my 4 door were shite they were major grief ! Heard lots of other people complain about them as well not sure what the 2 door ones were like.
deluxemk1 Posted October 27, 2007 Report Posted October 27, 2007 pre airflow? didnt notice. The sidelight panels are club ones I guess .Probably best to jig it alltogether to fit wings and valance nicely, drill and fit with self tappers ,get your bonnet gaps and headlight rings all nice.As im sure you know make sure the three headlamp holes in the rings are in the right place. to get a nice fit on the side light panels probably be best to cut through both the front valance and the side light panels under the lamps with air saw and then unscrew the sidelight panels to get the scrap of metal out then screw it all back together again this will leave a nice butt weld gap that fits nice, then you can weld it all up just wip out the screws after and mig plug where the drill holes were and clean it all up.Or I can do it if you fed up
R1.Andy Posted October 27, 2007 Author Report Posted October 27, 2007 simon your right on this front end its a pig. the front panels are expressed as well and they are 100% shyte and the front valance was flat put it through a shrinker to get a curve in it.. iv just run the air saw through the passenger flitch wing rail to lift it up a couple of mm as wing was low.. but ya your right the whole front end is winding me up to the point i wish id never started the bleedin thing. then iv still got to cut out side light fit back plates cos they only do the one pressing and lighn the grill up as you no urself it dont seem to move on but hours are spent doing it. plus im a brat at cars as its only a hobby
R1.Andy Posted October 27, 2007 Author Report Posted October 27, 2007 this was it in the e bay listing
R1.Andy Posted October 27, 2007 Author Report Posted October 27, 2007 within 4 days of owning it. it looked like this
deluxemk1 Posted October 27, 2007 Report Posted October 27, 2007 Thats how they start mate I can relate to that! Glad to hear its not just me that sees the faults in these panels hope that valance doesnt give to much grief I think i heated mine as well to get it to curve more on the corners. From what I can see in the pictures you are doing a good job buddy ,I seen worse efforts by pros keep it up.Let me know next week where you are at with it .I would be able to start it soon for you just finishing off at triumph herald shell that job was a bitch.
R1.Andy Posted October 29, 2007 Author Report Posted October 29, 2007 all day saturday wings on and off on and off on and off. but finally got valance welded on at last
