72mk1escort Posted October 29, 2007 Report Posted October 29, 2007 My Escort Mk1 is now very close to being on the road so i need to start thinking about insurance i would like the insurance in my own name and my Dad as a named driver but all of the classic car insurers i can find are 21's+ etc If anyone knows any companys that specialize in classic car insurance then would you mind letting me know please as its really confusing me now Also i need to get a valuation and i just wondered if anyone can recommend someone that can do this for a fair price for me I would really appriciate any help Cheers
Daggle Posted October 29, 2007 Report Posted October 29, 2007 Best bet is to look in the Insurance room, I am with Adrian Flux, they were competitive, £149 for my Anglia. As for a valuation, join a club and im sure they can do that.

antz Posted October 29, 2007 Report Posted October 29, 2007 i had this problem and ended up with liverpool victoria under a normal car policy then norwich union. next year im gonna get ass raped for insurance cos im 19 and gonna be trying to insure a 1700
bmxdave Posted October 29, 2007 Report Posted October 29, 2007 Im with Liverpool Victoria. Im massively impressed. I passed my test not long turned 19. First car : Triumph Vitesse 2.0 = £950 Second : MK2 Cortina 1300 deluxe = £550 Now im 20, with 11 months driving, ive just been quoted £500 on an XE powered mk1 cortina. I havnt even got a years no claims yet. I live in a nice area with low crime and the car is parked on the drive but other then that it should really be about £1000, and no other company would touch me until im 21 with 2 years ncb.
Rick Posted October 29, 2007 Report Posted October 29, 2007 its ok quoting prices but the real bit id be interested in is how they handle a claim. thats is the deciding factor for me after being totally fooked about by direct line. id rather pay more money for a better service, agreed value and peace of mind
16super Posted November 1, 2007 Report Posted November 1, 2007 This was a few years ago but Adrian flux insured my MK1 escort with a V6 in for less than £350 when i was 19 (i did say a few years ago) but they only wanted £129 for my Cortina an that was a new policy with no no claims, they're pretty good for modded motors.
