Stu_B Posted November 18, 2007 Report Posted November 18, 2007 Anyone any good with technology? I have just set up orange broadband in my house, my 2 mates have laptops & installed the orange cd & added their computers without a problem. I have a PC & had to add a wireless USB thing, I installed it all as normal & it connected fine but if I restart my computer I need to go through the whole process again! My computer is detecting the wireless network but won't connect so I have to add the network key each time, I've tried turning off firewalls but doesn't make any difference - any ideas?
Burns Posted November 18, 2007 Report Posted November 18, 2007 what router and wireless usb stick are you using?
Stu_B Posted November 18, 2007 Author Report Posted November 18, 2007 Orange livebox router & a logilink usb stick.
Burns Posted November 18, 2007 Report Posted November 18, 2007 ok, is the only problem that you have to type in the key every time?
Stu_B Posted November 18, 2007 Author Report Posted November 18, 2007 It wont always connect, its detecting the livebox & trying to connect but won't, thats why I thought it might be the firewall. I've un-installed evertyhing & reinstalled it & it's working at the moment but I dunno what'll happen when restart!
Burns Posted November 18, 2007 Report Posted November 18, 2007 is it a 2 in 1 modem/router or do you have them seperately?
Burns Posted November 18, 2007 Report Posted November 18, 2007 where your cable comes into the house, does it just plug into one box that provides the wireless, or is this first box plugged into another that provides the radio signal? (look for a plastic ariel on the back)
Stu_B Posted November 18, 2007 Author Report Posted November 18, 2007 1 wire (not including the power) comes from the phone socket through an ADSL filter & into the back of the router.
Burns Posted November 18, 2007 Report Posted November 18, 2007 ok, have you tried rebooting the router? turn off the router and shut down the computer wait 30 seconds turn on the router wait 30 seconds reboot the computer this usually works for the symptoms you have
Stu_B Posted November 18, 2007 Author Report Posted November 18, 2007 Ok cheers, it's working ok at the moment. If I have anymore problems I'll try that
Burns Posted November 18, 2007 Report Posted November 18, 2007 yeah, mine plays up, but that usually sorts the problems
