peeps,picked my xe lump up yesterday ready for the escort,im interested as to see what boxes your using behind your xe's.I have used a type 9 before but before i source a box and bell housing id like to see what else is being used.Also are you all using manta sumps?

hello mate i'm using the type 9 behind mine, people say its not strong enough, but if/when it does go bang 30 quid and a few hours work and it'll be on the road again. :wink:

 

I'm using the yukspeed sump and wcxm - my advice to you - use a manta sump and chassis mount it. i spent days getting everything lined up and have only got 2mm clearance behind the head! :D

ok mate thanks,i was going to chassis mount it,is your engine sat at its natural 7 degree tilt or have you mounted it at 0 degrees?also what manifold (exhaust) have you used?thanks.

No i've mounted mine level but in hindsight i would have tilted and used a manta sump but ho hum :roll:

 

I'm using the ashley manifold mate but had to lengthen it as it hit the floor but i haven't heard anyone else with this problem :wink:

you can use the manta sump in the upright position and just tweak the pick up pipe to sit streight :thumbsup:. theres a escort local to me with a xe useing the manta g/box

dont use the manta / getrag box as the ratios are all wrong and they are quite weak. mt mate rallies a manta with an ex and has used the manta box and the t9 and after breaking them all has now gone t5 :thumbsup:

T5 has the best ratio's for the XE imho... I have a straight cut type 9 behind the XE in the van and for road use it's pants :wink::thumbsup:

I have the same in my car...Tran X one and the ratio`s are pukka :wink:

Mine isn't a Tran-X and i really do hate it with a passion, it makes me a little bit sick through my nose... :lol:

Would swap to a T5 if i could be arsed, but the engine is coming out this winter so it might be getting a T5 in there anyway depending on what goes back in :wink:

I've also got a tran-x straight cut type 9 and it's really good . It's not that loud either so well worth the money :thumbsup:

T 5 aint no good on a high reving engine as the s/mesh cant catch up quick enough so no quick gear shifts. t9 or rocket type work as do the quife or tran x version
