one-day Posted December 19, 2007 Report Posted December 19, 2007 was advised to run 97 octane in my escort with unleaded seats in head but its a bit dear any other things to do also head and cam do they need running in do they
pauln Posted December 19, 2007 Report Posted December 19, 2007 The fuel octane level you require will depend on the compression ratio and the ignition advance you are running. If it's a new untested engine I would run it on the highest octane fuel I could get to start off with. The escort was initially designed to run on 4 star leaded (at 97+) so the advise could be based on the nearest unleaded rating (super 97) not the fact hardened seats are fitted. If the cam is aftermarket it should have bedding in instructions from the maker.
