Mr Sam Posted January 12, 2008 Report Posted January 12, 2008 went off daan saaf to see my girlfriend for the last time before she moves up here car started first turn of the key at home and behaved to kettering stopped to fill up ..... dead turning over real slow no sign of firing anyway theres an AA van sorting another car across the forecourt i ask nicely if he has a spare few moment before he towes this car could he try some jump leads on mine, sure enough without even checking my card he tries a few things but rightyls so after 5 minutes of getting nowhere he gets back to his original callout so i call my own 20 minutes later he arrives, try the same sort of thing but he plugs the leads to his van and a jumper pack to check its charging which it was, checks for fuel try the choke and the fooker starts what a fool i looked!!! he recconed a combinatio of a very weak starter motor (it whines) and iced up carb and told me for every mph i do along the carrigeway the temp drops a degree and the fact i had an aftermarket ope filter on and no grill really didnt help matters # still we had a chat told him about my anglia, he had one of them 1500gt engine big wheels etc and then a mk1 tina GT then told me about electronic ignition and some of the fiesta had points 'yup mine did' so got home okay just bloody annoyed, anyone got a fiesta starter (with the solenoid on the starter)

davreeve Posted January 12, 2008 Report Posted January 12, 2008 My 1100 used to ice up every 10 miles or so in winter had to stop and wait a few minutes then it was ok. Hows that there anglebox coming along?
Mr Sam Posted January 12, 2008 Author Report Posted January 12, 2008 very slow! although i did get something for it today a starter solanoid, which was meant for the fezza but think ill just try and get hold of a whole recon starter but the solenoid will do for the anglia, i did have a peep around it forgot how nice it is to lift the bonnet and see the engine in the right way round
bmxdave Posted January 12, 2008 Report Posted January 12, 2008 Do what i think everyones grandad does every winter. Stick a binbag or some cardboard on the grille. Stops some of the cold air.
Mr Sam Posted January 12, 2008 Author Report Posted January 12, 2008 ill stick the grill back on for starters the fiesta grill has some amazing aerofoil dynamicsy stuff that above 50mph effectivly lets NO air through .....apparently
