much about old car alarm systems? I have aten year old plus, Pirhana alarm. It's pretty basic now but it does lock the doors and close the windows when activated. I have not started car for about 4 weeks and now when I try it's completely dead, no ignition lights, no gauge movement - completely dead, yet the battery seems fine, and the alarm has been playing up a bit recently and now nothing ?

Does anyone know where to look to perhaps take it out of the loop as it where as I think it has immobilised the car.

Sorry if in wrong forum but this gets most looked at and would be handy if I didn't have to get someone out @ £70 to do it for me. Plus it's always handy to learn new bits about this and that ??

First check your alarm fuses ? OR..........

Depends how well it was fitted mated. You may be able to chase the wires from the control box and see what colour wires they are connected to ! If it is a case of snip origional loom without them also cutting a chunk out the loom so making it harder to chase the origional loom , I would try :

1. chase the control box loom to main loom connections.

2. Join pairs of same colour / thickness wires.

3. try it !

 

depends on how many circuits it immobilses usually 2 or 3

 

then you should have a constant live / an ignition live / earth / courtesy light monitor / indicators

I used to fit these alarms about 10 years ago but memory a bit hazy now but i think the wires from the alarm used to immobilise the car were green. If thats no good then they would have either connected them around the ignition barrel or in some cases under the bonnet(rare). A sure thing i would do though is remove the alarm completely as it does sound finished. I would concentrate on any foreign wiring around the ignition barrel though.
