I thought that zetec 100E was in the 12's. When you beat that you can say zetecs are slow

 

with a full interior and road legal tyres.....the nitrous might be classed as cheating though

Yes Tonys 100E must be the no1 zetec oldskoolford for sure . There must be a few more radical zetecs out there though surley . Anyone got any pics of any then ?

i have,as all you need is a set of cams i've already broken the magic 150 barrier........................or if your a zetecophile the 180 barrier

The zetec I got off Icky came with a dyno sheet with 168bhp. I dont know whether thats good or bad for a zetec. Dont think its had any work done to it other than a set of 45's

There's 168bhp and there's 168bhp if you know what i mean . Stick it on 10 rolling roads and it will be 170, 175 , 145 , 150 , 130 if you get my drift . Also "peak" bhp means nothing in realition to speed , an engine with grunt will be faster than a peaky engine with no mid-range

Hmmm ive got a zetec in mine, but i had it for cheap reliable power. Im hoping for 180 bhp from carbs and cams. And i can replace it for 100 quid if i break it andything more than 200bhp and your looking at big bucks to get it from a zetec...

 

I think a H.P.E pinto will definatly be faster but if it breaks your fooked. and there bound to be more jiucy too. doesnt stop me wanting one though

Zetecs with cams may make 180bhp on some dynos but they won't on a proper dyno dynamics rolling road , propably 150-160bhp max . A 160bhp pinto will kill a 160bhp zetec in a race because it has so much more grunt and it won't blow up and it fits !!!!!!!!

I know it's hard to believe but if you live around here ALL the fastest cars have pinto based engines in them , they kill everything !!!!!!!!

last week my std zetec with cams made 159bhp at sanspeed, my mates mk2 pinto made 165bhp at sanspeed about 4 months ago, my zetec has the legs on his pinto,but only just..........fact.....

the torque on that old zetec would'nt pull the skin off a rice puddy lets be honest

plus if you stick it on the dyno dynamics "bhp thief" at torque of the devil it will have alot less !!!!!!!

Word on the street is the Dyno Dynamics rollers read the power at the wheels very accurately, where they 'steal' your power is in the way they calculates transmission losses as this is done using some magic calculation rather than on the coast down like most other rollers.

mines got 180 "dyno-dynamics" bhp at the wheels so far on pump fuel , and a twin box quiet exhaust system . It should be much more elsewhere and we'll find out soonish
