im a zetec fan, but i dont think pintos are un-relaible if biult/set-up well...
all you need to make a zetec fit is a sump and mounts from retro ford, will cost you about 320 notes. to get it running you need the rest of the parts... but they are easy to 'fit'
mate its not as mega expensive as you might think, sump is 250, mounts 70, flywheel machined for pinto clutch 70, water pump 40, water manifold 150. thats about it i think. worth it in my opinion as i wanted a fat twin-cam 16valver in my 'bay
i think alot of people are slightly biased towards pintos here, becuase there as soo many stonking ones about that can do awesome times down the strip - something this site is a big part of i.e. drag racing
however there are very few 'sorted' zetecs out there. most people just bolt them in with a set of 45's and enjoy the easy 160 bhp, or 170/180 with cams
i recon if you put the same work into a zetec as you did a pinto (2.1 forged pistons, high compression, big valve ported head etc) you would see in excess of 220bhp - N/a cossie figures easy. Not bad for a 200 quid lump imo
