  1. as long as it has the correct oil and the correct amount of it hot is fine mate our race boxes get well hot the oil is above 100 degrees C i think
  2. i buy both but prefer retro ford
  3. i think if it were mine id put it up for 3700 just a guess though and i dont really know anglias that well so dont take it too seriously lol
  4. hmm 140mph very cool, how fast can u actualy go though only jkin mate nice one
  5. so what did u go for in the end sam? tell all...
  6. no real need mate as long as the paintwork is good and it isnt leaking?
  7. where bouts in the country are you mate
  8. gonna be a bit awkward then when you meet him lol why you need another engine anyway mate?
  9. not neccescarily, mk1 mexico posted he made 170bhp and 170 torques the other day with his zetec
  10. what setup is yours compared to his?
  11. im a zetec fan, but i dont think pintos are un-relaible if biult/set-up well... all you need to make a zetec fit is a sump and mounts from retro ford, will cost you about 320 notes. to get it running you need the rest of the parts... but they are easy to 'fit'
  12. i gotta say im really not a fan of ABS to be honest would rather control it myself
  13. i say zetec lee says pinto
  14. Yes i agree it will cost a bit more, but you get more power so swings and roundabouts to be honest mate. zetecs are iron blocks and alloy heads bud
  15. mate its not as mega expensive as you might think, sump is 250, mounts 70, flywheel machined for pinto clutch 70, water pump 40, water manifold 150. thats about it i think. worth it in my opinion as i wanted a fat twin-cam 16valver in my 'bay
  16. well to get a pinto to the same spec its 2.5 k and thats without carbs
  17. mine was, oh but an st170 wouldnt if thats the point your trying to make fair enough.
  18. i think alot of people are slightly biased towards pintos here, becuase there as soo many stonking ones about that can do awesome times down the strip - something this site is a big part of i.e. drag racing however there are very few 'sorted' zetecs out there. most people just bolt them in with a set of 45's and enjoy the easy 160 bhp, or 170/180 with cams i recon if you put the same work into a zetec as you did a pinto (2.1 forged pistons, high compression, big valve ported head etc) you would see in excess of 220bhp - N/a cossie figures easy. Not bad for a 200 quid lump imo
  19. zetec is more expenisive. but i liked the idea so i went for it
  20. hmm cool in there own way, wouldnt siut every engine bay though. why do you say that mk1 mex?
