Yeah it’s definitely original factory welds holding the rear quarters on it most definitely hasn’t ever been a for door. The front pans have definitely been replaced as has the tunnel. Look to be out of an auto but that’s the only stuff I’ve seen having had a really good poke about the shell.

Yeah a friend of mine once so helpfully said “You know for what you have spent on Old Ford’s you could have a nice new car.. Or even a decent Aston Martin “ (frankly I doubt the Aston part). Funnily enough I don’t speak to him now. It’s at a stage now like you I don’t keep a count of what’s spent. I just keep putting some money to one side in a savings account for stuff as and when required. It softens the blows that way.

It makes me sad, the prices of these now, prohibiting real genuine enthusiasts from owning one. Not people who buy them shove them in a garage and wait for them to be worth 100k it’s prohibited genuine enthusiasts from acquiring one. I thought all these “new shells” would have taken the prices down a bit but quite the opposite it appears. occasionally you can bag a bargain but it’s usually a headache as I’ve found out.

Hi folks seeking some info purchased an imported Maltese mk1 escort 1100L and it would appear to me it’s been wrongly U.K. registered with the DVLA. And I’ve only just noticed this! I’m guessing the importer registered a few cars at once and there was a mix up or he wasn’t thinking straight as he was ill. It’s a very early escort down as a 1970 H four door. When it’s definitely a 2 door 1968 early 69 G? It has the square loom plugs in the bulkhead,not the circular, it also has sticking out fuel filler, lock in driver door bonnet release in grill. the G or H plate thing isn’t a massive concern. However it being down as a four door when it’s definitely a two door which the vin confirms does concern me. I don’t want hassle off the plod or dvla. I can’t even go to the gentleman who imported it as I found out he died not long after the car was registered. whats the best course of action ?

Back issues have hampered me a lot of late, I originally had the plan of a stripped and caged street racer style car. Now comfort is key haha. But yeah these cars are to be enjoyed, although possibly not when the gritters come out up my way 😂
