johnny_h Posted March 23, 2008 Report Posted March 23, 2008 "Cortina, Anglia, Escort - Old Skool Ford - Wanted I'm looking for an Old Skool Ford. Anything considered. Let me know what you have, where you are, a few details about the car & the price, then I will get in touch. Thanks - cash at the ready & willing to travel" Could be legit but also a lot of info could be gleaned by the "buyer"
Admin Mk2Jo Posted March 25, 2008 Admin Report Posted March 25, 2008 Post up the number Johnny and then we can all ring him up, set up a hoax meeting and duff him up if he's Irish with a Shogun
johnny_h Posted March 25, 2008 Author Report Posted March 25, 2008 Strangely the contact details have been removed..... http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C31274?pt=pf
escortmad79 Posted March 28, 2008 Report Posted March 28, 2008 Plenty of ads like that appear in FreeAds papers as more & more people look to get one. Some maybe legit, others may not
jix45 Posted June 18, 2009 Report Posted June 18, 2009 not impressed with that comment about irish. 1
Smudger105e Posted June 18, 2009 Report Posted June 18, 2009 jix, I will apologise for the Irish comment, but in saying that, it seems that the vast majority of people who seem to sniff around OSF's are men driving Shoguns and who have an irish accent...
Admin Mk2Jo Posted June 18, 2009 Admin Report Posted June 18, 2009 not impressed with that comment about irish. This thread is from March 2008 For those that were not members on here at that time, there was an Irish man with a shogun in the South London area knocking on doors asking about Old Skool Ford's parked on driveways. And ... he went to a local garage and was trying to buy the OSF's they had in there - he was very pushy and then a number of OSF's went missing - one of them stolen from a garage by gaining entry through the garage roof, breaking the door from the inside and then stealing the car - a mk1 Escort ..... a Shogun was in the area. At the time I was in contact with the local police in the area reporting all the sightings that people on here had encountered and also the local paper were informed and even ran an article to highlight the problem to warn all the locals in the South London area. That is why the Irish comment was on there .... it was NOT aimed at ALL Irish men and has been taken out of context by you I hope that helps?????? Smudger .. no need to apologise for my comments, I was justified in using the term as per the explanation above
Savvi Posted June 18, 2009 Report Posted June 18, 2009 I have a ad's running very similar to that one That's how i have found the last 3 barn finds and a load of my spares !!! I appreciate that one looks bad and mines worded slightly different but if you don't ask you don't get, i think, if their honest, a few of the people on here are doing the same.
Admin Mk2Jo Posted June 18, 2009 Admin Report Posted June 18, 2009 Savvi ... you have to take into account that this was March last year (not this year) and at that time, there were a lot of thefts in the area and people were very wary. Like I said, it was at that time the Irish pikeys in the Shogun were sniffing around - and these were very persistent dodgy looking blokes hence Johnny posting up the ad he had seen
Savvi Posted June 18, 2009 Report Posted June 18, 2009 Sorry Jo I thought this was a current post not one that had been dragged back up from times gone by !!!!
jix45 Posted June 23, 2009 Report Posted June 23, 2009 ok jo,maybe i jumped the gun a bit........i thought you meant something else. i hate thieves though. i reckon use use policies like - if caught stealing, cut the hands off it would stop all the nice jammers(irish slang for cars) getting stolen after the first 2 or 3 guys
Admin Mk2Jo Posted June 24, 2009 Admin Report Posted June 24, 2009 No worries mate .... I am deffo NOT anti-Irish And I agree with you on the method of punishment for ALL thieves
