105Nick Posted November 14, 2006 Report Posted November 14, 2006 what about the rs1700t?? ever heard of one?? What about them ! More plastic than Toys 'R' Us What he said. Are you saying the RS1700T's Old Skool now? Hang on a minute, wasnt that the huuuuge flop that Ford invested loads in, only to realise what a mistake they'd made from ditching the MK2 and going FWD, (hang on, they had the RWD underpinnings grafted on as they knew FWD wasnt upto it from the poor results of the XR3) only for them to withdraw the MK3 escort programme from rallying entirely and go and invest in the Sierra Cossie and RS200? Your point taken. Deffo not Old Skool. I love Mk5 Tina's, but then they were basically the same car as MK4, so in theory they are Old Skool cos they were designed along with the capri. Sorry if I may have been a little direct to the point, but every week it seems someone asks this bloody question about newer cars being old skool or classics when they have no spirit or anything that makes them seem individual or evoke any emotion. If I'm out in my 105E or MK1, I find myself being waved at or in conversation with all sorts of people, from OAPs to kids, I have people taking photos, that's what old skool ford is about and I dont think you'd get the same emotioanl response in an XR3, other than some chavs saying thats old skool, I nicked one once.
mk2_boy Posted November 14, 2006 Report Posted November 14, 2006 mk5 cortinas were a run out cortina design for banger racing they r a lesser granada, while the mk4 is cool, ok shares mechanicals but the look is definitly different! i don't think we should knock mk3 escorts, the topic isn't are they any good, it was are they old skool, the answer is no so lete F*CKING LEAVE IT AT THAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
