CapperTom Posted April 8, 2008 Report Posted April 8, 2008 Hi, this is a question too all you running pintos. What head gasket do you use because all the ones i can find have some of the holes blanked off, even the oe ford ones. Burton has one thats £96 that has all the holes from head too block open. Ive just had probs with the oil/water mixing and wondered if thats y? Why do they blank it off? Im desperate too get head on 2mz so fast replys would be really appreciated. Thanks Tom
Li1NOB Posted April 9, 2008 Report Posted April 9, 2008 Hiya Tom if your engine is fairly standard ie block and head not skimmed etc I would suggest a OEM headset, ie branded from your motor factors. The blanked holes are to prevent hotspots etc so I wouldnt worry about that. Just get one that covers the approx year that your engine was made etc. I presume you have cleaned the head up and checked for cracks etc. Good luck with it.
caprinerd Posted April 9, 2008 Report Posted April 9, 2008 i run a slightly moded 2.0 pinto in my cappa and use a standard head gasket and have never had a prob with it
glenbo Posted April 9, 2008 Report Posted April 9, 2008 i got a 2.0l injection engine running on a webber.i got a injection head set from ebay 1988 is the year.as long as you get a head set for approx correct year of engine it should be o.k
Wessie Posted April 9, 2008 Report Posted April 9, 2008 it might not be a problem with the gasket, if your engines got hot then the head might of warped
lee_capri Posted April 9, 2008 Report Posted April 9, 2008 has far has i no you should really have it skimmed befor refiting it,i alwat's do especiley if it was running hot, like wessie said also have it checked for crack's has some are that small or in a akward place you might not see it, has for the head gasket i would go to local motor part's shop,i do the man i use can get hold of most thing's includeing gasket's for pinto's
CapperTom Posted April 10, 2008 Author Report Posted April 10, 2008 Hi all, Thanks for your replys, i have refitted head now, i checked for cracks and there was no visible ones, i had the head faced again but not much as it has already been skimmed an unknown amount. It did get hot a few times as i had one of them stupid kenlowe fan controllers fitted and it never worked properly but now have a revotec one too go on and few over bits so should all be fine now. Il let you know how it goes. Thanks again. Tom
