spitbarnatt Posted April 22, 2008 Report Posted April 22, 2008 Does anyone know if you can swap the input shaft from a type E into a type 9? The type 9 that I've just fitted only has 30mm of spline which isn't enough for my twin plate clutch, where as my old type E has a long spline on it. Spoke to quaife and they don't do anything with a longer spline so how does everyone else get round this? Type E: Plenty of length! Type 9: Not enough! Sorry for the bright pics but the camera I was using isn't the best!
w p e Posted April 22, 2008 Report Posted April 22, 2008 cut the bearing noising down to the same length as the one you had
spitbarnatt Posted April 22, 2008 Author Report Posted April 22, 2008 No can do. On the type E the input shaft spline continues into the clutch release bearing sleeve but on the type 9 it stops 10mm short, that's where the problem is, the rear clutch plate is only sitting on the last 2mm of the spline.
