Firstly Sam if you're only 26 then your license will only allow you to tow up to 750kg or, and this is the little known bit, a trailer up to the weight of the unladen tow vehicle. This is providing you do not exceed a gross weight of 3500kg (tow car and trailer). There should be a plate under your bonnet giving the rated towing capacity of the car, or it will be in your handbook.
You should be able to tow on low profile tyres as long as the load on the tyres does not exceed their rating(written on the side of them) if you do manage to exceed the rated weight of the tyres then you have too much nose weight on your trailer which is just plain dangerous. Like when you see these idiots towing caravans with all their crap loaded at the front of the caravan making the car point at the sky. This makes the steering light and the front brakes less effective.
Someone will probably correct everything I've said now.
Nice pics
Trackday insurance on that Cossie wouldn't have cost more than £200!
Really feel for the guy, I've had a few smacks in my time, but I bet I wasn't the first person to think donor engine.
Sam, with an N/A you'll have to keep the 4.6 diff. I run a 4.4 and a 5 speed, that puts me at around 125mph at 8500 in 5th, and then sitting at 5000rpm at 70 on the motorway. That's the only drawback though, the noise from the tb's is awesome, alot of fun through town
I still want a MK1 that does 150 + though but without sacrificing acceleration can't have that with an N/A cossie lump.
Thanks for the compliments
Need's a change or tyre's to drift really. Me and a mate went mucking around on an industrial estate but the back just grips and grips and then all of a sudden you're facing the opposite direction
I was gutted that the g/box went on the thrash cause I was really looking forward to getting some drift practice, maybe next year now
My diesel van used more than that towing mine up there.
I absolutely love my N/A and it's perfect now it's got a 5 speed attached, that is unless you want to get on a motorway, then it's just annoying!
I couldn't bring myself to change it or get rid of it but would love something near to the speed of Kev's. 160mph + and 11 sec quarters on road tyres is just mental
Hello geeza, hows it going?
Not sure of Cams, but they are'nt massive and it runs lovely. Its a 2.1, big valves, 48's, normal stuff really.
Sound's good. Can't beat an N/A cossie
I haven't been about much lately, driven my car a whole 2 miles in the last 8 weeks
Just starting a new project now though and can't wait to get stuck in
