MK2Ed Posted May 7, 2008 Report Posted May 7, 2008 Glastonbury is good - but then I haven't been for a while...

Mr Sam Posted June 15, 2008 Author Report Posted June 15, 2008 no but i think you can actually still buy them online and i think HMV last year they sold out within a few hours but this year theres loads left line up is rather crap Jay-Z .........shakin stevens!!! and in the tent marquee thing literally 50yards from my mums stall on saturday night we have, will young, the wurzels and the proclaimers
capriaddict Posted June 15, 2008 Report Posted June 15, 2008 If i still lived in glastonbury i'd of said drop in while you in town
Stu_B Posted June 16, 2008 Report Posted June 16, 2008 My housemates are both going. It's only up the road for me & the novelty has worn off now you have to pay
jimbo Posted June 16, 2008 Report Posted June 16, 2008 It's years since I went to Glasters and even gave a thought to who's on the bill. I blag my way in each year, and spend most of my time hanging out with friends in the crew/backstage area (that's woodworkers and stewards in the crew camping, not hob-nobbing with the stars behind the pyramid!) As usual, I'd blagged some passes for me 'n' the missus but I just can't get in to the spirit of it this year (a lot of my buddies are doing other things) so I'm gonna give it a miss. On the back of this thread, I thought I'd actually look at the line-up for once. There's some really good stuff there that I'd like to see, but then I rarely go north of the Jazz Stage, and an usually asleep by day Soloman Burke Manu Chao DJ Eddy Temple-Morris DJ Format The Duke Spirit Seasick Steve Reverend and the Makers On the Avalon stage by you: The Baghdaddies Big Band Kissmet Don't knock the Proclaimers. That's quality drinking and stomping music Also Tony Benn and Marcus Brigstocke on the Leftfield stage. My kind of politics I would certainly see Massive Attack over Jay-Z. I like the fact that they're tying to keep their minds open, by booking Jay-Z. But tbh, I'd rather see Kanye West. To be totally honest, if they were gonna have hip-hop on a Saturday night, I'd rather see Jurassic 5. The great thing about Glasters is you can have an amazing weekend without going near the stages listed in the programme. There's always something going on! Either way mate, I hope the sun shines on ya When it's sunny it's great, and when it's muddy...........get wasted 'til you don't notice.
Mr Sam Posted June 16, 2008 Author Report Posted June 16, 2008 thank ya....yeah cant wait to see the proclaimers they were on at the same time as coldplay in 2005 so didnt bother with them then, cant believe no Billy Bragg this year and as said you dont need to go near the stages to have the time of your life Lost Vaugness is THE place to be (keep meaning to get a suit in a charity shop) for the ball
jimbo Posted June 16, 2008 Report Posted June 16, 2008 No more LV, I'm afraid...... http://music.guardian.co.uk/news/story/0,,2260676,00.html Part of the reason why I'm not going. A lot of my buddies were involved in that side of things.....Shame it was the last bit of wild anarchistic edge to the festy..... I miss the travellers too. They provided a bit of "atmosphere". Don't miss the dodgy scallies though.
Mr Sam Posted June 17, 2008 Author Report Posted June 17, 2008 wtf!!!! im staying at home! never forget strolling into the chaple at 2am and seeing the craziests most crazy london band instead we have.....Shangri La, sounds asian to me enough talk this thread needs picturz, yeah the travellers rock as much as thier wagons dodgems!!!!!!
jimbo Posted June 18, 2008 Report Posted June 18, 2008 wtf!!!! im staying at home! never forget strolling into the chaple at 2am and seeing the craziests most crazy london band instead we have.....Shangri La, sounds asian to me Nah. Well ish! Hippie-ish/Asain-ish like. Could be good.....worth a shot if you're there. Some of the new ideas worked for me last year, so didn't. The Park was way out on a limb (the trek probably made worse by the mud) but even when there it just felt a bit soulless. I'm hope shangri-la isn't the same. That said. A lot of recent changes work well. The splitting of the Dance areas works really well for me. I caught Bobby Friction and Nihal presents at the East Coast last year. That was probably my favourite two hours of the weekend
Mr Sam Posted June 18, 2008 Author Report Posted June 18, 2008 i never even got to the park last year couldnt work out where it was deffor going this year though to see the levellers i met bobby and nihal at a radio1 big weekend lovely chaps indeed cant wait to see massive attack now boiught thier best of yesterday and cant stop listning to it
jimbo Posted July 2, 2008 Report Posted July 2, 2008 So I got a phone call on Thursday morning, offering me a freebie ticket....... Well. I'd have been mad to turn it down. Had a great time. Manu Chao headlining Jazz Stage on Sunday night was my highlight..... And my discovery of the weekend was a 22-year old london rapper who goes by the name of Excentral Tempest. She was Quality http://www.myspace.com/excentraltempest
Mr Sam Posted July 2, 2008 Author Report Posted July 2, 2008 awsome mate theres some pics in another thread of mine
