Dale Posted May 29, 2008 Report Posted May 29, 2008 ok not going to lie.. i have no idea! i want to stick some on the fez. i found these avo ones... http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/products/ ... GTZ300/301 say it lowers it 30mm on a fiesta... i want about 50 mm. how do i get lower all round? because they're only adjustable on the front. i've found these springs. https://www.burtonpower.com/product_mai ... Code=PC210 1 - will they go on the avo coilovers 2 - what do i use on the back cheers, Dale
johnny_h Posted May 29, 2008 Report Posted May 29, 2008 Buy a set of 40mm lowering springs from rally design (£10 a corner). Dont worry about the dampers or coilovers unless you are thinking about racing.
Dale Posted May 29, 2008 Author Report Posted May 29, 2008 i was told running lowered springs on standard shocks will kill the shocks? the cars seem to sit better on coilovers aswell. i'm running 30mm springs on standard shocks at the moment and theres alot of movement in the springs. feels unsafe so i'd rather go down the coilover route.

You can damage the internal bumpstops on a standard damper if you run it too low and they get bashed all the time, they can break up and deposit bits of rubber in the oil blocking the damper. As for "the cars seem to sit better on coilovers aswell. " I cant see how.. considering its just a ' flexable thing' between 2 fixed points, the cars stance dosnt know if it has a coil-over or broom handle wedged in there. When you say a lot of movement , can you explain that a bit better ? As on the road a car thats lowered too far, its far more dangerous than a car with standard suspension ... especially if its on the bumpstops. Bumpstops are not springs, they are what they say, a stop at the limit of bump to cushion the chassis from metal to metal contact. With a rising rate of somewhere around a 500lbs / 1/4" they are not springs
Dale Posted May 29, 2008 Author Report Posted May 29, 2008 i didn't say i want it so low that its on the bumpstops...? 50mm tops. when i say movement the springs seem loose in the struts. make a kind of clunking noise when turning.
baz105e Posted May 29, 2008 Report Posted May 29, 2008 sounds like your springs arnet seated proberly or your top bearings are fooked
razersedge Posted May 29, 2008 Report Posted May 29, 2008 i didn't say i want it so low that its on the bumpstops...? You no when its low enough when it sits on the bump stops and then you take the bump stops out and then it's fine
Anglia68 Posted May 29, 2008 Report Posted May 29, 2008 Coilovers have adjustable spring seats so you can raise or lower your car as much as you like.See pic. 30mm is probably just a reccomended amount.

Retromotorsport Posted May 30, 2008 Report Posted May 30, 2008 only adjustable at the front a fiesta though Until your fit the rear coil-overs ....
Dale Posted May 30, 2008 Author Report Posted May 30, 2008 only adjustable at the front a fiesta though Until your fit the rear coil-overs .... the descipton on the AVO coilovers for MK1 fiesta.. it says only adjustable on the front. same with GAZ its says "Adjustible height on front only"
Retromotorsport Posted May 30, 2008 Report Posted May 30, 2008 Its easy to fit coil-overs .. cut out the old damper turrets, fit some larger ones then tie them into a multi-point cage ... job jobbed Its at the rear of a front wheel drive car, to get those quick round a track its a case of weld the angle iron beams open face up, and go stupidly stiff on the rear, makes it all nice an loose on the rear .. On the road with that set up. you would crash.
