mk3tina Posted June 23, 2008 Report Posted June 23, 2008 i might be getting some 265/50/15 tyres, my wheels are 8 inches from the outer lip to outer lip, will these tyres be ok to use? and will there be any pitfalls in handling etc? they are only going on the back of a jacked up mk3 cortina
Von Loxlee Posted June 23, 2008 Report Posted June 23, 2008 it'll balloon fair bit so under hard cornering the tyres are gonna roll about under the rim and stuff which will mean crap handling but if its goign on a jacked up car then i wouldnt worry about it at all cause obviously aint gonna be much hard cornering going on. will they be covered by the arches though? the top section of tread has to be covered by the arch when looking from above the car you'd have to do a fair bit of arch pulling to achive that i would have thought *edit* forgot to say we need pictures.......sounds awesome
mk3tina Posted June 23, 2008 Author Report Posted June 23, 2008 decided against those size of tyres, will be too much ballooning going on, and pulling the arches out on a 4 door gets a bit tricky as theres not a lot to work with near the back door. will get some pics up as its coming along quite nicely, just think matt black muscle car and you wont be far wrong, but its all show and no go for now, pretty much standard 1600 xflow engine and box. its just a cruising machine anyway so im not too fussed for now
Von Loxlee Posted June 24, 2008 Report Posted June 24, 2008 lol i have the same problem first thign everyone aks me about my car is 'that a 2.8 mate' or 'got a v8 in it?' i have to turn around and say no....its a 1.6 lol
mk3tina Posted June 24, 2008 Author Report Posted June 24, 2008 i know, i think as a minimum they should have all came with the 3.0 essex rather than stupidly small pintos and xflows
Stu_B Posted June 24, 2008 Report Posted June 24, 2008 Tell me about it, my mk3 was only 1.6 x-flow... pretty wheezy in a big 'ol mk3!!! Heres mine with 235/50/13's on 7x13" rims on the back: Wasn't jacked up but the tyres gave it that impression, it will be properly jacked up, caged & pinto'd when I get around to doing though
mk3tina Posted June 24, 2008 Author Report Posted June 24, 2008 well, i say its jacked up, but really its just got standard rear springs, -2" front springs, 15" wheels on the back and 13" on the front, has a nice stance to it. what sort of performance could you get out of it with the tiddler xflow? theyre a good engine and all that but wouldnt mind knowing what sort of thrashing you gave it generally and how it was in the mk3
Gonzo Posted June 24, 2008 Report Posted June 24, 2008 "Tell me about it, my mk3 was only 1.6 x-flow... Embarassed pretty wheezy in a big 'ol mk3!!!
