Von Loxlee Posted June 24, 2008 Report Posted June 24, 2008 coilover helper springs and the bit that goes in between the helper and the normal spring mainly, i cant find them anywhere except merling motorsport for 15 quid each! which is ridiculouse for a tiny bit of metal! anybody know where i can get anything like this? this is what i mean... http://www.merlinmotorsport.co.uk/COILO ... _info.html
Retromotorsport Posted June 24, 2008 Report Posted June 24, 2008 ermm why do you need them ???? if you have say 200 ib springs and they drop out then go for a longer 100 spring .. the normal reason for using helpers is when the suspension travel is so short from ride height to full bump that using a longer softer spring would mean it goes coilbound .. If you have the length right you can use a 100lb spring .. after 1 inch of compression its now a 200 lb spring .. after another inch its 400 lb .. so if you have a gap of 1 inch then use a 100lb spring that longer by an inch buy the time its settled to where your 200lb/inch spring sits its a 200 spring if you get me On my race escorts the rear dampers are a custom length, shorter than the short tarmac dampers that standard Gp4 cars use .. but the springs are the same length as forrest springs .. just a lighter poundage
