North Weald - let's Gate Crash

Sunday 13th July is Volks Fest at North Weald as advertised on their website. What's not advertised is that it's also Test & Tune (any car but No Bikes, for max track time). I know this because it was printed on the flyer they handed out at the last meet - anyone up for it?

 

Just to let you know what you missed last time, here are some pics of me, Tom and Marty as well as just a fraction of the mental machinery out there (was also a Lister Jag and a V8 Delorean)

where are these burnout shots with tom and marty? and is that the astra that beat marty?

Burnout shots you have to pay for from the 'professional' photographer. TBH I think it was more clutch smoke than anything else. These pics were taken by Simon's bro.

 

I don't think the Turbo Astra beat Marty, he was at least half a sec quicker I think. Although , cough, the Astra did beat me by 0.3 secs

 

But but it did have a Turbo and 8 more Valves and and and.....

 

and Tom did beat me by a whole second

I was there but I didn't see the lister.

Did you get any pics?

No pics, but it was the one based on the old XJS with an odd body kit and V12 taken out to 6 or 7 litres. It disappeared early on though.

Ohh i see. I do remember that.

I'm off to Le mans in a couple of weeks and one of the cars I'll be involved with is a Lister jaguar (1950s sports car). Would have been amazed to see one at North Weald

What power do vauxhall claim on that astra turbo then? (i whooped it )

I think it is 200bhp but 185lbft of torque right from 2000rpm to 5500rpm. 150mph top speed and 0-60mph of 6 secs. I reckon I matched him up to around 50mph at North Weald here:

 

 

so my 0-60 should be around 7secs. Yours should probably be sub 6 sec.

It's a good bench mark anyway as most of the proper Hot hatches are about the same performance.
