Hi All

I have a weird problem with my MK1 Escort and i cant get to the bottom of it i am running a standard dynamo and voltage regulator i have also upgraded to h4 headlamps. When i am driving with my lights on and the stereo on the stereo keep cutting out and coming back on also the charging light on the dashboard is up all of the time but pretty dim but it get brighter each time you put something else on (i.e: window wipers)

It really is driving me crazy my idle is around 800-900 so theres no problems but it still has the fault even when driving at a constant 2000-3000 RPM.

Has anyone got any ideas to what could be at fault or is it that im just trying to run to much stuff off of a dynamo?

Any help would really be appreciated guys as this is driving me nuts :roll:

check your engine and chassis earth straps to the battery mate - my brother had this problem on his mk1, when he used the indicators the radio turned on and off!

I start off my own little remix every time i turn my indicators on

So do i just need to remove and clean all of the earth straps etc then?

The chassis earth was only a thin gauge wire and had snapped at the chassis (near the rad) i bought him a nice thick earth lead from a motor factors and went straight from the battery to the strut top
