GT_Jim Posted July 26, 2008 Report Posted July 26, 2008 does anyone have any tips or advice, i am trying to fit a zetec to the standard cortina crossmember but im finding that with the escort circular rubber engine mounts it is too wide for the zetec which has lead me to 2 options 1 chop a small section out of the crossmember and angle the top of the mount slightly 2 chasis mounts if anyone has some pic of either that they could send me id be greatful
emu Posted July 26, 2008 Report Posted July 26, 2008 pop to your local motor factors and ask them nicely to look through their engine mount/ suspension bush catalog. some of them have pictures and measurements so you may be able to find something that fits straight away
Mk 1 Mark Posted July 26, 2008 Report Posted July 26, 2008 ask neil at 105speed or Dave at retro sure they will have or will no what mounts to use
vibrating_Cake Posted July 26, 2008 Report Posted July 26, 2008 these are zetec mounts using the rubbers, if that helps?? the blue bits on the inside are spacers from the block. and the rubber is just covered in blue insulation tape, cause i wanted it blue =)
GT_Jim Posted July 26, 2008 Author Report Posted July 26, 2008 i have the DIY kit from Dave at retro ford as he said they dont do mounts that work with standard mk1 crossmembers ill have a word with neil and see what he says
GT_Jim Posted July 29, 2008 Author Report Posted July 29, 2008 looking at the standard crossmember it is 120mm narrower than a mk2 escort, i have seen anglias using the original steering gear but i thought their crossmembers were similar to mk1 cortinas is this right?
