mart67 Posted August 3, 2008 Report Posted August 3, 2008 i wonder if any of you xe people can help?im running my xe with the manta big wing alloy sump but im using the standard astra/cav xe dipstick.after doing a little research i found out the mantas ran with less oil than the later fwd xe powered cars,so although full of oil it shows very low on the dipstick?i can lengthen the dipstick no worries but i wondered if any of you boys had faced the same issue?
mk2 stu Posted August 3, 2008 Report Posted August 3, 2008 mate i got the big wing sump from yukspeed and have same problem. Best bet is to completely drain the lump and re fill using correct amount, think its 4.5l (not sure) then run up to temp and let it rest, take dip stick out wipe and re insert, when you take it out this time you can scribe the line on dipstick and this will be your marker. Now i have a question, did you remove the oil cooler sandwich? if so where did you get new oil filter thread?
mart67 Posted August 3, 2008 Author Report Posted August 3, 2008 sound mate,i will get that done.yes i have removed the cooler plate mate, the part your after is a gm part.vauxhall had one on the shelf mate.i will have a look when i get home and dig the part number out for you.
livewire7116 Posted August 3, 2008 Report Posted August 3, 2008 The tube can be taken from an 8v 2.0 motor with no cooler
