antz Posted August 30, 2008 Report Posted August 30, 2008 i just thought that since im putting a 1700 in a escort it might be a good idea to upgrade the brakes at the moment im using standard brakes with some fast road pads and braided hoses...(still have the servo too) its a 1.3 ghia if that makes any difference to the set up? what would people recommend?..bear in mind i know jack shit about brakes, dont have much money and dont wanna fook around with knackered calipers if its gonna be more hassle than its worth!
emu Posted August 30, 2008 Report Posted August 30, 2008 Better brakes are always handy to have, provided your tyres can cope, but the standard brakes arent that bad in the first place provided they are in good nick. My escort still had the standard 1300 stuff on it till I got given the 2.8 stuff. The brakes dont work any better with 2.8 stuff by the way. There is no reason why they should though, as the pistons are the same size, as are discs. It was free, thats why I fitted it.
antz Posted August 30, 2008 Author Report Posted August 30, 2008 ill give ti a go with the standard brakes then. it had all new brakes including calieprs about a year ago so they should be good for a while yet
Lukey48screamer Posted August 30, 2008 Report Posted August 30, 2008 Nah they'll be fine, Im going n/a cossie with standard capri brakes and no servo!... Just work up those leg muscles!
