  1. No mate, thats definatley good - as long as you dont mind! I ever understand people winging about their car being too loud, surely thats the point isnt it?!
  2. Recently got a new quaife short shifter and after fitting it Im not that impressed.. I wanted a SHORT shift for quick changing but it feels no different to my last short shifter which gave up the ghost at CF this year, can anyone recommend a company that does a proper short shifter with an aggressive shift? Im talking proper short fellas!
  3. Looked sweet, caged up an'all! How did you come to get your motor on there then mate? Hope they didnt scratch it when they broke into the other car!
  4. Mine are 7x13s but theyre not superlites theyre old miniltes, yeah the 4spokes look the mutts nuts in 7's I believe the repro ones fit straight under and to be honest think they look a little bit cooler than the genuine 7"RS rim although thats just me
  5. They wont fit unless you go for a non deep dish style wheel... so superlites in 7" are all too far offset, u can fit them but your car will look more like a 4x4 than an uber cool slammed escort
  6. Sorted it many thanks mate Problem was the terminal on the main power cable shorting out against the solenoid casing Took me all day to work it out but at least its sorted now! Its almost to good to be true when you finally tackle something thats been a pain in the arse for days, Im a happy bunny
  7. 1) "That wire on the left should be to the neg on the battery, and earthed to the starter by putting it on one of the bolts that holds the starter to the bellhousing" I dont quite understand that as that wire goes into the loom... which I THINK earths up by the rad.. Do you mean if I put it straight onto one of the bolts holding the starter on I will be earthing the starter as I have an earth lead fixed in the boot?.. 2) "There is a braided wire on that one that goes into the starter" What does this braided wire do? 3) "The crimped wires on the right terminal will be constant fed live, do you really want that?" The red wire (blue crimp) is a feed to a switch for my fuel pump&ignition 4) "Right after just disconnecting the (blk/yellow and thick black on the left) wires I tried the battery cables again and the car was still trying to start up" So Ive disconnected the red wire with the yellow crimp and now its not cranking itself. What do I do with the yellow crimp wire as that seems to be the one that turns the starter motor over? Hope this makes sense
  8. Can someone out there with a pinto or done a xflow to pinto swap please post me up a piccy or two and some instructions on the correct wiring for a starter motor as I almost blew myself to bits at 3am this morning trying to connect my battery up! Everytime I go near it with the cable I get a flash of blue light and the car trying to start itself up... Ok so the battery cable and my fuel pump/ignition wire (red with blue crimp) comes off the big stud on the right with the wire that used to go to my + terminal on battery (yellow crimp), leaving the two from the loom that are: one blk/yellow wire with the blue sleeve and the thick black wire. These both went to the old xflow solenoid... I think maybe they are the wrong way around but would like an honest opinion on it 1st before I go and wreck something Right after just disconnecting both the solenoid wires I tried the battery cables again and the car was still trying to start up... So Ive disconnected the red wire with the yellow crimp. Then tried the cables again with only my ign/fuel pump feed on and no start-up, good.. but just fried my fuel pump wire Any ideas why this would happen? All I can think is that the pump is not earthed well enough, would this be correct or am I overlooking something?
  9. Mate I seriously think two tone will look the nuts, the look is perfect with the colours joined at the swage line - I normally agree with most things sambo posts but how can you say that this doesnt suit an unarched escort?!
  10. This looks fcking awsome
  11. YES I like that idea Go Go, what you waiting for! It will look hard in two tone black and silver This idea does sound very original and in my opinion would rather suit an unarched escort especially with the square headlights, it would look hard as fook slammed on 13's.. proper GT street racer
  12. I can vouch for black being a complete c**t to keep looking tidy mate, and to be honest the car does need to be dead straight or you will see every imperfection Must say the two tone idea looks very cool tho
  13. OK been trying to decide which brakes to go for on a budget so would like to ask has anyone here had any experience with hi spec ultralite 4's? My 1st intentions were to go for the these with 260mm vented discs until I got onto the phone to hi-spec and the geeza started asking me how much my car weighs and what power :blah: and that theyre best used on kit cars... so why advertise them for escorts??? at which point I said ok mate I'l think about it and finished the call... So now I dunno if I buy them and fit them I'l think later down the line they arent up to the job Ive wasted my fkin money or was he probably just trying to upsell me? What do you think people?! Cheers
  14. That looks like the best fitting so far mate-nice one thanks for the link, will probably go with one of them to be honest but one more question... do you know where I can get a battery box of the right size to fit it lol! Cheers
  15. Yeh I read that, was a bit surprised they didnt test out a varley for some reason... You right too I do want it to be able to turn the car over well!
