Fiesta Steve Posted September 24, 2008 Report Posted September 24, 2008 I'm off fishing tommorow and have been making a paste bait tonight. I have used a mixture of secret ingredients and used an egg as a binder. They say that there is no 'wonder bait' but I think I have just made it !! I put a small ball of this wonder bait in my fish tank and the fish absolutly went crazy for it. Hopefully it will make a change from the boilies that the noddies use day in day out. Can't wait for tommorow now to try my wonder bait out Watch this space

X-pack-Glyn Posted September 25, 2008 Report Posted September 25, 2008 Steve Steve Steve, golfish in a tank have had no fishing pressure ever, they never even seen a hook mate...course they are gona go nuts for it.. Carp in a pressured lake are a bit different mate, ive had to use dumbell boilies for the last 2 months as ive watched em feed on everything but round boilies, they wouldnt take a 22mm round boilie, yet offer them the same flavour in a dumbell and i took the water appart for 2 weeks, then it was blown. dont get me wrong wonder baits come out all the time and work, but only for a very short time then they are whats called "blown" and the carp will avoid em. have you watched any of the korda vids at all? i got all 6 mate, cost a few quid mind but you will be better off for seeing it. what size did you roll?

Glyn, fish are fish and they all have the same basic needs and they won't find those needs in a boilie. The fish in the tank has never seen a hook which makes them great for testing baits on. I've been fish keeping for about 20 years and have fed them everything imaginable over the years. I know what fish like to eat and I know what they don't like to eat. If I drop a boilie in the tank the fish don't go nuts for it, why ? Because they are made of shite, as are all the dumbells on the market. I've been fishing for about 20 years too, and used to work in a tackle shop, I know what companys produce good bait and what ones don't. A boilie is not a complete food source for a fish, if you fed a carp soley on boilies it would die. So its needs something else right ? Get out on your lake in a boat with an aquascope, it might be a bit of an eye opener for you. Especially when you see all those fur balls rotting away on the lake bed. You talk of 'flavour' yet fish can't taste as they don't have a tongue nor can they smell as they don't have noses. And if the waters heavily couloured they won't be able to see the difference between a round boilie or dumbell shaped boilie Why don't you try night fishing that way the carp wouldn't be able to see what shape your baits are in the dark. Or hadn't you thought of that Last year I sacked virtually every carp I caught overnight (thats a lot of carp ) The carp shit in the sack and I inspected the shite and was amazed with what I found time after time, my findings have certainly helped me bank more fish. The results of my knowledge was evident today when I landed no less than 21 carp in 12 hours when the bivvy and boilie bregade sat and watched me with amazement. The next best catch was six fish ! It's simply a case of finding what that 'something else' is, its a bait that will never 'blow' and thats a fact. You ask what size I rolled ? I didn't make boilies m8
bert Posted September 25, 2008 Report Posted September 25, 2008 have fun, i last had a 3 day session back in July Id love to get back to the lake but no chance with a baby due any day now.
X-pack-Glyn Posted September 25, 2008 Report Posted September 25, 2008 yes, i fish at night mate, done nearly every weekend for last year or so now... lately more and more fish are coming out at night, so i dont even put baits out now till dark and usually bag 4-5 fish on the first night, then fish that spot all the next day, then il move and do a new area just before dark the next night. the boilies i use are very very expensive to make, and dont use any egg at all. ah, inspecting carp shit, ive been doing that quite a while now, and most of it has been pineapple, i wasnt sure at first so i had a little taste, deffo mainline pineapple though. ive just took the water appart again on the new Mainline, "stew and dumplings", awesome bait and aint blown for a good few weeks now.
Fiesta Steve Posted September 25, 2008 Author Report Posted September 25, 2008 Always good to buy the best bait quialty bait you can afford. Fishing at night definatly has many advantages. Nothing wrong with egg in baits, that why I don't use shelf life baits, 'cos they don't contain it
X-pack-Glyn Posted September 25, 2008 Report Posted September 25, 2008 Bloodworm in this bait? Oh, good tip for you...never forget a bog roll for them long sessions
Fiesta Steve Posted September 25, 2008 Author Report Posted September 25, 2008 have fun, i last had a 3 day session back in July Id love to get back to the lake but no chance with a baby due any day now. Believe it or not, my missus is due Monday and I went fishing all day, am I bad I said I was only a phone call away, got their and had no signal I borrowed the baliffs phone at luchtime to find out how many kids I've got Luckliy she kept them crossed
stevepeanut Posted September 26, 2008 Report Posted September 26, 2008 I don't get fishing at all. I once went on holiday with my parents and the cottage they hired had a river running along the bottom with private fishing. I borrowed a fly rod and got a licience and gave it a go on the holiday. After 5 mins I hadn't caught anything and got so bored. Must just be me, I wanted it to happen instantly, I got no patience. I caught 2 eventually, brown trout I think. Dont think I'd ever try it again, so many people love it, but its just not for me.
Durham Fiesta Posted September 26, 2008 Report Posted September 26, 2008 i love fishing, not a big fan of sea or course fishing but love salmon and trout fishing
