Hi Scott, it's been unbelievable. I've been lucky enough to get some great sponsors and competed in a full season this year so have got to race on every track on the calendar. I've had some big crashes but have been lucky enough to walk away from them all and also enjoyed some success at the last round where I managed two podium finishes. I've done a deal for next year with my sponsors and we have purchased a new bike that should be more competitive as we move up a class. So exciting times ahead. Both engines are going to make around 100bhp per litre at their peak so no getting away from the fact that for shear power pinto is king but that will come with a small weight penalty. As you said yourself, if you need to win drag races pinto is where it's at, for anything else, a good crossflow will do what a pinto does, just with more style

Build a crossflow properly and it'll beat most nailed together pintos. Crossflow makes a much better noise than a pinto. Crossflow is a much better looking engine than a pinto. Build costs will be similar for both engines.

To pull big mph you need big bhp. It's always a sure fire way at the pod to see who's got horse power. regardless of the time, a high terminal speed indicates high bhp. But there are so many variables there is no calculation to simply work it out.

Big carbs have capability to supply lots of air, any carb can be jetted to run rich. Small chokes in big carbs work better than big chokes in small carbs. Twin 45's with 36mm chokes will work fantastic on a 'fast road' crossflow.
