bigdaz27 Posted October 14, 2008 Report Posted October 14, 2008 on my way home from work i was showing of to a mate like you do and when i span the the wheels up i got a loud bang from the axle now it bangs and clunks when i pull away pluse when i get a bit of speed up it dose the same thing bu pulls the car to the right
TwoLitrePinto Posted October 14, 2008 Report Posted October 14, 2008 sounds like your axles come off/sheered the locating pin mate and your prop is pissed causing the banging. stop driving it or you will shag your prop and your diff if it is that could be that youve already killed the axle... what car is it and where r u?
bigdaz27 Posted October 14, 2008 Author Report Posted October 14, 2008 its a mk1 escort and im in oxford
TwoLitrePinto Posted October 14, 2008 Report Posted October 14, 2008 does one of the back wheels look like it sits further forward in the arch than the other? try grabbing the back wheels 1 at a time and pushing them back and forward and see if there any movement
razersedge Posted October 14, 2008 Report Posted October 14, 2008 might have broke a tooth off the crown wheel or done a planet wheel in (presuming it's not lsd) id say jack the back of the car up and try to see where the noise is coming from diff or axle or gearbox because all can cause noises i one had a clutch that went bang and made the clonk and judder and also check the axle is not pointing up because that can cause it as i found out
bigdaz27 Posted October 14, 2008 Author Report Posted October 14, 2008 no wheels are level in the arch
TwoLitrePinto Posted October 14, 2008 Report Posted October 14, 2008 check the exle not pointing up as sed above, if its not i would be looking for a raplacement axle mate
