right, ive just done the studs on the capri, so it involved taking the hubs+bearings+disks of the car, splitting the disks and then bolting it all back up again.

after ive bolted it back up the car will only go in a streight line if the steering wheel is facing the left slightly, and when you let go it tends to drift towards the right.

and when i go over bumps the front wheels dart in and out and everywhere they want to taking the steering wheel and my hands with em.

what have i put back incorectly? the bearings are quarter of a turn over handtight, so they arent overtightened, when the wheel is on and you wobble it in vertical direction its tight with no looseness, and when you wiggle it in the horizontal direction its a bit wobbly, but thatll just be slight play in the steering???

or should it be tight on the horizontal wobble??

also what could i have done to knock the tracking out or cause this problem????

also in closer inspection the left hand wheel seems to be pointing slightly left compared to the right when the wheels are streight???

i had the weight of the car on axel stands on the outer tca at one point to compress the strut but not up for long.

check to see if any of the bolts are loose. also see if any ball joint has play. did you fit everything back on? silly question i know but have to ask. you may have bent the tca slightly but they do take a bit of force to bend them.

only thing i can remember doing, is either tapping the torque wrench on the steering arm so the ratchett would click to get the brake caliper off.

erm, what i did....

took wheel off, took caliper off (2x17mm bolts)

took the bearing bolt (big 22mm bolt in middle of shaft with splitpin and all that in)

took the outer bearings out, and slid the hub and brake disk off from the strut.

then i took the inner bearing out and replaced this and the plastic cover as the origional one was.

then i undid the 4x14mm bolts that hold the disk to the hub, and had to "persuade" the disk off the hub with a few sharp taps with the hammer.

then i replaced the studs, and put it all back together.

only real thing i can remember doing to the TCA's is i had the car on axel stands on the outer TCA mounts on both sides while i went to get my tyres..

confused =(
