Retro-gone. Posted November 1, 2008 Report Posted November 1, 2008 i want to keep my original 1600 pinto just incase one day i want to use it, its all complete so how should i store it? oil down the plug holes? leave oil in the sump? any tips? may be years till i need it..
mk2dk Posted November 1, 2008 Report Posted November 1, 2008 Hi Retroglam73. In my opinon the best way is to change the oil and filter while the engine still is in the car, and run it a couple of minutes, then a little oil down the plugholes. If it is already on the floor I would still change the oil and leave the fresh oil in the sump, and a little down the plugholes, and turn it a couple of rounds. Old oil contains acid from condensation etc. and that can be a little harsh on bearingshells. Hope this makes any sense ....
Retro-gone. Posted November 1, 2008 Author Report Posted November 1, 2008 yep makes good sense, the oil and filter are only 100 miles old
