MK2Ed Posted November 5, 2008 Report Posted November 5, 2008 im thinking of carpeting the garage floor- any thoughts? will this help with damp or just collect it? got some off cuts from all the bloody decorating! Concrete floors should always be laid with a membrane. My garage is fine and has carpet tiles, nice and comfy no problems... Damp does come up through some concrete floors though - depends how old your concrete floor is and when it was laid ...
D4N Posted November 5, 2008 Report Posted November 5, 2008 A carpet would be no good in my garage the mess we make
Mr Sam Posted November 5, 2008 Report Posted November 5, 2008 i cant rember the guys name but someone local to me his garage is spotless and carpeted with an epic mk2 cossie sat on axel stands
bazbiker Posted November 6, 2008 Report Posted November 6, 2008 I have bits of carpet in my garage beside the house where I keep and work on most of my motorbikes, as it’s easier on the knees and it is stopping any oil getting into the concrete floor before I get a chance to paint it. The farm shed (old chicken shed) I rent for keeping and working on my cars couldn’t have carpet in there at the moment as its so damp but I have just painted the walls to brighten it up a bit and the floor to seal it, has taken me weeks with all the shit I have had to move about to get a bit done at a time, but I finished it yesterday so now its time to sort out what is going where and bin the rest
Guest cortinamad-gonetoo Posted November 6, 2008 Report Posted November 6, 2008 it wont last long if you do plenty of grinding and welding
SAF_Capri Posted November 6, 2008 Author Report Posted November 6, 2008 it wouldnt be till after the engine change, just want to make the garage less damp, going to line everything i can.
