You may remember my thread about my 1700 engine block i bought off ebay, had bored out, honed, new cam bearings and painted to the find out the main caps didnt match.?

Anyway when that happened we spoke to one of the managers at the engineers (here is two) and asked DO YOU DO LINE BORING FOR THE MAIN CAPS? and he said NO. So we all agreed that I need a new block that the main caps actually matched to build my engine.

So rather annoyed I spent £200 of my pounds on a new bottom end and had it shipped to te engineers where it was stripped anc elaned and found out it had been sleeved previously and couldnt be bored out...the round ones!

Then my builder bloke says THIS IS STUPID. YOU SAID YOU COULDNT DO LINE BORING....to which the manager of the engineers (different guy this time) says NO WE DONT. BUT WE DEAL WITH ANOTHER ENGINEER WHO DOES SO WE CAN SHIP IT OFF TO THEM.

WHY THE **** DIDNT THEY SAY THAT IN THE FIRST ******* PLACE!?

So now my first block is off to get line bored at mroe expense. I have a 1600 bottom end with a sleeved block I cant do jack with, im £200+ out of pocket and my builder has wasted his time messing around with this because of some **** at the engineers.

And the best part is....we cant do jack shit about it because he did say they didnt do line boring but didnt mention he knew someone who could.

THANKS A LOT PARK ENGINEERS OF MALTON (N.YORKS)

To say im slightly p*****d off is an understatement  I cant blame my builder though cos he has done a sterling job and were both out of pocket.

ive been collecting bits for this 1700cc engine for over 2 years and it owes me over £2k in parts alone without the labour of building it.

makes me wonder why i didnt just go for a zetec like i originally planned :evil:

That's rearly hard luck mate.

A similar thing happened to me when i was having a highly 17 xflow built for my tina.

I bought a complete engine from someone who was sopposed to know about tinas and escorts, sopposedly a 16gt,low miles and when i stripped it ,it was bolloxed and i mean bolloxed .

It had the wrong 68if earlier crank fitted ,a heavily scored block (which wouldnt of matterd as it would of been bored out anyway ) but one of the grearbox mounting lugs was snapped!

And it didn't even have a big valve head on it..!!,i payed a few bob for it too.

Started again from scratch and ended up with a truelly stonking motor in the end.

Set backs piss you off but it sometime helps you get it right second time around, even when it's not your fault.

Keep pluggin away, you'll get there soon.

i know what you mean delotus.

its just so annoying as i bought a 1700 block off ebay but thatw as the oen with th odd end caps. but in the mean time i had bought a scrap 1700 for bits which was £200 (but had some nice bits on it) then i ahd to buy another 1.6 for rebulding which is fooked (i cant blame the seller as they didnt know. it was sold as seen)

so its just annoying

it better be a good engine when its done or ill prob break down into tears and ball my eyes out like a 5 year old child

but in this current financial situation and my redundancy looming in July, thats £200 could of done without spending

Keep going at it Antz.. These fooking OSF's are never straight forward!! It'll fight you to the end, they always do.. but the miniute you turn that key, hear to old girl roar and get that back end out all the heartache will seem like a distant memory!!

Keep going mate... You got a stonking car there and I cant wait to see the finished product!!!

:thumbsup::thumbsup:

cheers mate.

i sometiems wonder if the thing likes sitting in its nice damp garage in the dark out of the way...as it spends most of its time there

its like a moody teenager. takes months tog et out of bed but once its out and woken up it loves it

still a bit sore about the engine though  on the upside ive got a block fr a coffee table, spare crank and some spare conrods should i ever need them
