  1. This is one of the biggest crashes I have ever seen, a Talbot sunbeam losing it at 155mph on Sunday at the Rally of Epynt in Wales. Video Info: This is the terrifying moment a rally drivers helmet is ripped off as his car flips at 115mph. Darren Pools Talbot Sunbeam was caught in a gust of wind as it went over a small jump, spun five times then went head over heels twice. But by a miracle Darren, 35, suffered only minor cuts and co-driver Chris Beer, 37, escaped with bruises to his face. One of Darrens arms can even be seen dangling out of the window as the drama unfolded in front of his horrified family on Sunday morning. The battered car eventually came to a halt 150 yards from the tracks at the RDP Welsh Rally at Epynt in mid Wales. Rescuers rushed over fearing he and Chris were dead. Mechanic Darren, from Exeter, Devon, said: "I was going over a jump Id done about 25 times before but this time for some reason we lost our line while we were in the air. There was a gust of wind and we realised we were coming down all wrong. The car landed in a ditch and just started rolling over and over. "

  5. How the hell does it come out?? I'm talking about the part that runs accross the width of the car and the padded piece on top. Everything else has been stripped out of the dash and it's just the metal section (where the controls for the heater and the toggle switches are located) How can you remove it on a mk1 escort?? Cheers
  6. Cheers for the advice lads!!! It's gonna be a pain in the arse as the gutter parts are pretty rusty on one side! Just as long as I can repair them at some stage!! No air chisels lol.. Thanks again..
  7. Could anyone tell me how to remove them from the car?? I've had a look but can't see how to do it!! Thanks!
  8. he has refused that thats why i suggest theres something amiss ! Yeah i'm with you then mate.. I would steer well clear.. I can understand the no cash thing... but an electronic transfer whilst at the bank is the safest way for all parties...
  9. Arrange to meet him at his bank and do a direct bank transfer.. that way you can have the car and money swapped at the same time and not have to wait for the cheque to clear and run the risk of him never showing up with the car
  10. Cheers mate

  14. Nowdays they will not bother to print anymore money, everything is done via bank transfer. When they say they will print more money, all they will do, in effect is credit the banks account with a greater amount. This will free up some capital on a banks balance sheet for loans etc. This will make credit more avaliable to the public, making them feel wealthier again and increasing public spending. This is different from what has happened already. The government have bailed out banks through public deficit spending, basically borrowing money from the world bank reserves. The increase in the money supply will need to be taken back at some point, hence the creation of corperate bonds, which are essentially IOUs The downside to injecting money is that it could make the currency weaker , if there is more of something it becomes worth less. It is difficult to calculate the perfect balance, hence if too much is injected uncontrollable levels of inflation may occur. Trev has a good point.. the market is heavily impacted by the news through scaring consumers etc.. and i believe this has increased the problems we are currently facing. There is a fixed supply of money, (although this is altered to stimulate growth) coins notes etc make up a very small part of that which are held in banks or in circulation. The rest is all transfered from bank to bank via a computer system or several It is difficult to see the extent of the situation when we do not know the size of the debts. Quantitative easing has not worked for the likes of Japan recently. One solution maybe to form a so called "bad bank" to buy the toxic loans from the banks, but this is impossible untill it is known how bad these debts are. The money would be recovered when the housing market grows again. There are a number of ideas that I wont bore you with...
  15. You have to remember that the money that the banks had, and lost, never actually existed. Those figures that are batted about are just a way of assigning a relative value to something. Seeing as this money was "lost" the stock price values of the banks no longer reflect what they are worth, so the stock price crashes. So the banks stop lending to try and bulk up their balance sheets in order to regain that value. And seeing as banks are all interconnected if one crashes so do the rest (hence why Lehman Brothers was such a disaster and has a lot to do with the situation we are in now) and they drag everything down with them. Oh and Fred... was it an Icelandic cheque??
  16. Yeah Fred you are dead right... sorry I must not have made it clear, I was trying to answer Vistas questions about what would happen if the did increase the paper money supply. The banks were given large sums of money to increase working capital, but all that is happening is the banks are feeding them into their balance sheets in order to offset the money lost on assets. The issue with that is that the banks are not passing it on, back to the guy in the street. The government, seeing as they own large parts of these banks, need to put in place a body to see what is going on with their money. At the moment they are just throwing money at them hoping that will fix it. Sorry i wasnt clear enough in the first place...
  17. Basically, the first thing to distinguish is the difference between money and wealth, buy printing more paper nobody is getting any wealthier. The "quantitative easing" techniques proposed at the moment do not include printing more paper money, the bank will attempt to increase the money supply by buying government bonds and gilts. In answer to your question Vista... If they were to increase the paper money supply (which they are not at the moment) The basic idea, if it were to happen, of printing more paper money is that: * The supply of money goes up. * The supply of goods goes down. * Demand for money goes down. * Demand for goods goes up. It is a method of increasing inflation in order to get the money supply moving again. The problem is that it is extremely difficult to manage and once it has been implemented hyper inflation can take hold, leading to an even worse situation. So no it will not reduce the levels of "toxic" debt, if it was to happen, but it should address the credit crunch part of the problem through an inflationary boost. It will mean people will have a greater nominal amount of money but they will not be any wealthier. Increasing the amount of money does nothing to increasing the amount of wealth or more plainly the amount of stuff in the world. Since the same numbers of people are chasing the same amount of stuff, we cannot on average be wealthier than we were before. People should spend more, printing more money has a short run shock on purchases, until prices react to the change in money supply and a new equilibrium price level is reached. So for a short while everything will be cheaper. SO.. if I haven’t bored you all already, printing money is a way to shock the economy into short run inflation. Printing more money is a horrible idea, the quantitative easing that is reported will be through gilts and bonds and will not affect us in the street. This concludes my lecture... if anyone is still awake
  18. 12N – Sockets are used on trailers and caravans etc to connect and extend the obligatory road lights (indicators, brake, fog and side lights). 12S – Sockets are used for auxiliary systems (fridge, battery charge, power feed etc.). These Sockets are not fitted as standard on trailers but are commonly used on caravans. Both the above sockets are similar in appearance, but differ with the gender of the pins, 12N having 4 male pins while the 12S having 5 male pins, with the centre pin denoting the difference between both sockets. The difference ensures that connectors cannot be connected to the wrong socket. Bypass relays are designed to operate trailer road lamps in unison with the towing vehicle's road lamps without drawing any significant current from the vehicle's road lamp circuits. They are used in vehicles that have bulb-failure warning devices that would be activated by the simple connection of additional lamp circuits for the trailer directly to the vehicle's own lamp circuits. So for a standard trailer you will need 12N kit and depending on your vehicle the bypass relays. Hope this helps
